Super-Versatile Storage: Lidded Glass Jars
See-Through Containers for Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry Room and Beyond
I originally bought a few of these bad boys several years ago at a kitchen supply store to use them in — you guessed it — my kitchen. Since then I've noticed them slowly starting to disperse throughout my house. They're in the laundry "room" (actually a closet), the bathroom and yes, still holding court in said kitchen. It's no surprise, really; the sizes are perfect for most anything that needs to be contained, and since they're glass, you don't have to open each one to remember what you've stored inside. Houzz users appear to be like-minded in the adaptability of the lidded jar. Here are just a few ways they've used them to great effect around the home.
We'll start with a no brainer. Free your flour and sugar from their bags and store them in one of of these jars instead. Instantly, what used to reside on the far back of the top shelf is pretty enough for easy access on the counter.
Next, try less obvious pantry items. Cereal, dried beans, oats — anything you use on a regular basis is worthy of a nice container and a spot front and center.
Who wouldn't want a little hidden snack corner to cure all sweet cravings? This would be a much-frequented addition to my home.
I... I honestly have no idea what's going on here. Is this one filled with bath salts? Baby powder? The thing is, it seems way too close to the loo to be used in conjunction with any other part of the bath. So what could it be in there? If you can tell me, I'd be most appreciative.
This laundry room makes me all kinds of happy. Not only does it have a gift wrapping station in the corner (complete with craft wrap — my favorite!), it also has a number of those handy jars. Let's take a closer look to see what's inside...
It looks like these are used for storing thread (for sewing on a wayward button) and twine (perhaps for tying up those wrapped gifts). Love it!
Fill your lidded jars with clothes pins if you've got a drying rack nearby.
Use them to hold a collection of marbles, matchbooks or an epic array of Pez dispensers.
Use one to hold laundry detergent and get rid of that big cardboard box for good.
Word to the wise though: Pour laundry detergent into the jar in a well-ventilated area or risk a serious sneezing attack — and probably all sorts of bad stuff in your lungs.
