Dark wood cabinets feature "push to open" hidden hardware on the lower cabinet doors and finger grooves to open the drawers and upper cabinet doors. A walk-in pantry (not shown) off of the scullery provides ample storage for canned and boxed food and tall cabinetry for storing cleaning supplies such as brooms and mops.

This amazing beach house was in desperate need of a refresh. Our clients had a vision of how they wanted their home to look, but didn't quite know how to get there. A complete renovation was the solution. Our team went to work creating a classic design, including a new modern kitchen. We used a light gray shaker cabinet on the perimeter with a dark stained shaker on the island. Contrasting quartz counter tops with a drop miter edge add interest and texture. Blown glass pendant lights illuminate the island, while LED under cabinet lighting is used to create ambiance throughout the kitchen. Custom upholstery including sofas, chairs and ottomans in warm grays, browns whites and blues create generous seating areas in the common living spaces.. A built in bench seat piled with cozy pillows lets you take in the beautiful sunsets and water views. We love the use of reclaimed barnwood on this project. We used planks with worn crackled paint on the partition wall in the master bed room, vintage stained wood for the laundry room barndoor and thick timbers for the fireplace mantle and floating wall shelves. Lots of salvaged coastal treasures and sea glass are used to accessorize the home and give it that little extra touch. Our clients just loved the final result, and its certainly one of our favorites as well!

Kitchen - transitional kitchen idea in Chicago

Due to the river view from the kitchen's bay window, designers move the stove's metal ventilation hood -- originally located over an island in the center of the kitchen -- and place a stainless hood on the kitchen's back wall. They add a second station -- a serving island -- in a medium-toned mahogany. They contrast the mahogany with dark, ebony-stained cabinetry on the island nearest the stove. Delicatus granite is used for the countertops, except the serving island, which employs black absolute. This pulls the deep ebony colors into the room's central area. Pineapple House accessorizes the serving islands’ exposed shelves with things like coffee table books instead of kitchen-related items since it faces the family room. The designers increase storage with a four-door pantry with a break-front design and embed a television on its exterior. A floor-to-ceiling wine chiller and storage/display is created in the corner. Our clients love to cook and had a serious deficit when it came to space. We were able to redesign the space incorporating the breakfast area into the kitchen doubling their storage and wall space. The kitchen is now a chef’s dream! We love how open and bright it is now! Part of the remodel was expanding the windows in the breakfast area to take in their beautiful backyard and adding a new window next to the space where the door used to be.

Our approach to the dining room wall was a key decision for the entire project. The wall was load bearing and the homeowners considered only removing half of it. In the end, keeping the overall open concept design was important to the homeowners, therefore we installed a load bearing beam in the ceiling. The beam was finished with drywall to be cohesive so it looked like it was a part of the original design. Now that the kitchen and dining room were open, paint colors were used to designate the spaces and create visual boundaries. This made each area feel like it’s its own space without using any structures. The original L-shaped kitchen was cut short because of bay windows that overlooked the backyard patio. These windows were lost in the space and not functional; they were replaced with double French doors leading onto the patio. A brick layer was brought in to patch up the window swap and now it looks like the French doors always existed. New crown molding was installed throughout and painted to match the kitchen cabinets. This window/door replacement allowed for a large pantry cabinet to be installed next to the refrigerator which was not in the old cabinet configuration. The replaced perimeter cabinets host custom storage solutions, like a mixer stand, spice organization, recycling center and functional corner cabinet with pull out shelving. The countertops are quartz and feature an under mount granite composite kitchen sink with a low divide center. The kitchen faucet, which features hands free and touch technology, and an instant hot water dispenser were added for convenience because of the homeowners’ busy lifestyle. All recessed, under cabinet and decorative lights were installed on dimmer switches to allow the homeowners to adjust the lighting in each space of the project. The entire first floor remodel project uses 12x24 ceramic tile laid in a herringbone pattern. Since tile is typically cold, the flooring was also heated from below. This basement kitchen felt cold and empty, so we installed custom floating wood shelves and added texture & warmth with accessories. The warm wood tones balance the white and stainless to give cohesion and wow factor that this homeowner was craving.

The Solstice team updated the kitchen design for this Odenton, MD home located in the Four Seasons Estates. The result is a bright, open plan transitional kitchen that enhances both the style and functionality of the home. The foundation of this design is HomeCrest by MasterBrand Sedona style cabinets in maple with a French vanilla finish.
