The upper cabinets were 18 1/2 inches above the countertop, and these were 9 inch tiles. Instead of having a tiny tile or huge grout joint against the cabinets, we opted to cut these tiles down to 6 1/8 inches and go with three rows. Trying to match the veining in these porcelain tiles was a challenge. Good thing we love puzzles!
