Kids' room - contemporary boy kids' room idea in Miami with gray walls

This is the first room people see when they come into her home and she wanted it to make a statement but also be warm and inviting. Just before entering the living room was an entry rotunda. We added a round entry table with scrolled iron accents to introduce the Tuscan feel with an elegant light fixture above. Going into the living room, we warmed up the color scheme and added pops of color with a rich purple. Next we brought in some new furniture pieces and even added more chairs for seating. Adding a new custom fireplace mantel to carry in the woodwork from other areas in the house made the fireplace more of a statement piece in the room, and keeping with the style she loved we made some slight changes on the draperies and brought them up to open the windows and give the room more height. Accessories and wall décor helped to polish off the look and our client was so happy with the end result.

Our client said of her new kitchen, "It transforms the way our family lives." Her children used to spend their time in the basement rec room where she rarely saw them, but now, with the island in the expanded kitchen, she has more together time with them and is thrilled. Custom built light oak cabinets, Jerusalem gold limestone subway tile backsplash, a honeycomb of honey onyx marble tiles behind the range hood, and jupiter crystal granite countertops create a warm visual language that evokes the homeowners' favorite travels. Counter-height red leather and mahogany bar stools surround a glass top pedestal table which integrates with the kitchen's custom center island. For this project, WKD was asked to design a new kitchen in a Boston suburb with custom kitchen cabinets along with new cabinets in the adjacent family room, creating more of a kitchen lounge. They were also asked to find space for a much needed walk-in pantry, reconfigure a home office and create a mudroom. By moving walls and reorienting doors, spaces were reconfigured to provide more storage and a more welcoming atmosphere. This major remodel on Lake Champlain involved removing the roof a simple cape and adding another story, creating a substantial home. The corner turret anchors the building and provides great space for a breakfast room, home office and and artist's studio!
