Our homeowners purchased this home for its excellent location and great bones. They were desirous of returning it to the era of it’s time while updating and modernizing it with the elegance it deserved. To add to our challenges, they were living out of the country during our design and renovation, making for great communications utilizing modern technology to ensure we could deliver what they hoped to achieve. We opened some space in the kitchen to create an updated and more functional kitchen for this active family, relocating appliances for efficiency, adding an island and relocating a chimney. We had structural challenges with the sagging hardwood floors, which required us to reframe floor systems, and while we were at it, we antique finished the hardwoods reminiscent of the 1940’s. We added wainscoting in the dining room and entry stair hallway to enhance the old-world look and added some arched openings to match other areas of the home. We also added custom moldings to the fireplace wall to allow it to shine as a focal point in the space, utilizing restored antique light fixtures. The finished result is stunning and truly honors the integrity of the original time period of this home.

In a nod to traditional Nantucket Craftsmanship, we used Shiplap Panelling on many of the walls including in the Kitchen and Powder Room. Your smile is not the only curve in the room when you enter this room. This open and airy traditional Atlantic Beach kitchen flaunts a beautiful curved island in natural cherry which is the focal point of the space. There are occasional times when a homeowner comes to the table with a vision from which the designer can draw his inspiration. Such was the case when Bilotta designer Goran Savic and Interior designer, Catherine Ebert’s mutual client announced that design and an expansive feeling should be prioritized over the prevailing “more storage” maxim. Although the kitchen was opened up to afford a view of the beautiful sculptural staircase, cabinetry was limited to a modest “L”-shaped footprint with an island. But not just any island: curved cabinetry in cherry that references the curves of the staircase and its cherry newel post and railing. While the rounded shape doesn’t contribute much to storage, it provides plenty of room for seating and definitely makes a strong design statement. More seating can be found in the comfy cushioned banquette (with storage drawers below). That’s a perfect spot to grab breakfast or even read a book. The unique piece here is the custom table at the banquette. Its beveled oval cherry base and double stainless-steel column supports are evocative of a luxury Art Deco yacht and echo the curved island. Goran utilized a number of space-enlarging visual devices as part of his design arsenal. Open shelving and glass upper sections on the wall cabinets prevent the frequent claustrophobic effect of all solid doors. Installing the wall cabinets higher than usual created a larger backsplash that helps offset the normal feeling of countertop clutter. Of course, nothing opens up a room like the inclusion of abundant natural light, but choice of materials also plays a huge role. Here we have a bleached stain on the wood floor, white cabinets, pale-colored countertops and backsplash tiles, and clear glass pendants, all of which enhance the airiness of this stunning new room.

The client wanted to create an elegant, upscale kosher kitchen with double cooking and cleaning areas. The custom cabinets are frameless, captured inset, and painted, with walnut drawer boxes. The refrigerator and matching buffets are also walnut. The main stove was custom painted as well as the hood and adjacent cabinets as a focal point. Brass faucets, hardware, mesh screens and hood trim add to the elegance. The ceiling treatment over the island and eating area combine wood details and wallpaper to complete the look. We continued this theme throughout the house.

The owners of this traditional rambler in Reston wanted to open up their main living areas to create a more contemporary feel in their home. Walls were removed from the previously compartmentalized kitchen and living rooms. Ceilings were raised and kept intact by installing custom metal collar ties. Hickory cabinets were selected to provide a rustic vibe in the kitchen. Dark Silestone countertops with a leather finish create a harmonious connection with the contemporary family areas. A modern fireplace and gorgeous chrome chandelier are striking focal points against the cobalt blue accent walls.

Our clients wanted the ultimate modern farmhouse custom dream home. They found property in the Santa Rosa Valley with an existing house on 3 ½ acres. They could envision a new home with a pool, a barn, and a place to raise horses. JRP and the clients went all in, sparing no expense. Thus, the old house was demolished and the couple’s dream home began to come to fruition. The result is a simple, contemporary layout with ample light thanks to the open floor plan. When it comes to a modern farmhouse aesthetic, it’s all about neutral hues, wood accents, and furniture with clean lines. Every room is thoughtfully crafted with its own personality. Yet still reflects a bit of that farmhouse charm. Their considerable-sized kitchen is a union of rustic warmth and industrial simplicity. The all-white shaker cabinetry and subway backsplash light up the room. All white everything complimented by warm wood flooring and matte black fixtures. The stunning custom Raw Urth reclaimed steel hood is also a star focal point in this gorgeous space. Not to mention the wet bar area with its unique open shelves above not one, but two integrated wine chillers. It’s also thoughtfully positioned next to the large pantry with a farmhouse style staple: a sliding barn door. The master bathroom is relaxation at its finest. Monochromatic colors and a pop of pattern on the floor lend a fashionable look to this private retreat. Matte black finishes stand out against a stark white backsplash, complement charcoal veins in the marble looking countertop, and is cohesive with the entire look. The leaded glass windows, a key feature throughout the main floor and entry door, were preserved as a focal point in the design. We crafted cabinetry to align with the window, ensuring that the beautiful leaded glass remains a standout element of the space

The overall impact of this kitchen space is the defining element in the overall scheme for the project. We were able to flip around a stone fireplace to become a dominant focal point in the interior space. We created a central axis from front to rear by the addition of the massive window wall leading to the outdoor entertaining area. Clearly the woodwork and the attention to every detail are evident in the final product. This unique kitchen is the focal point of 2 complimentary buildings which have been connected to form a beautiful master suite on one side and a lively family room and dining room on the other. This central open kitchen is the focal point for this sensitive and creative renovation. Custom walnut cabinets and built-ins and Danby marble countertops blend perfectly with the carefully re-pointed stone walls of the original walls of the existing buildings.

This beautiful kitchen is the perfect take on a modern farmhouse. It's open and spacious with so many thoughtful details. The top of the island is fabricated with Fantasy Brown Marble. One of the focal points of this kitchen is the stunning backsplash made up of 4x12 metallic glass tiles. The beautiful flooring is an engineered 7' plank brushed white oak that was stained.

The kitchen is the focal point of the home. A central gathering place with plenty of space to move around. The island is has dark gray cabinetry with a marble countertop and undercounted seating. The existing U-shaped kitchen was tucked away in a small corner while the dining table was swimming in a room much too large for its size. The client’s needs and the architecture of the home made it apparent that the perfect design solution for the home was to swap the spaces. The homeowners entertain frequently and wanted the new layout to accommodate a lot of counter seating, a bar/buffet for serving hors d’oeuvres, an island with prep sink, and all new appliances. They had a strong preference that the hood be a focal point and wanted to go beyond a typical white color scheme even though they wanted white cabinets. While moving the kitchen to the dining space gave us a generous amount of real estate to work with, two of the exterior walls are occupied with full-height glass creating a challenge how best to fulfill their wish list. We used one available wall for the needed tall appliances, taking advantage of its height to create the hood as a focal point. We opted for both a peninsula and island instead of one large island in order to maximize the seating requirements and create a barrier when entertaining so guests do not flow directly into the work area of the kitchen. This also made it possible to add a second sink as requested. Lastly, the peninsula sets up a well-defined path to the new dining room without feeling like you are walking through the kitchen. We used the remaining fourth wall for the bar/buffet. Black cabinetry adds strong contrast in several areas of the new kitchen. Wire mesh wall cabinet doors at the bar and gold accents on the hardware, light fixtures, faucets and furniture add further drama to the concept. The focal point is definitely the black hood, looking both dramatic and cohesive at the same time.

This newly remodeled kitchen features semi-custom cabinets in two distinct kitchen; Aspen Oak and Pure White. The focal point is the Arabesque mosaic accent tile behind the hood. It sets the tone for this gorgeous masculine new space. Calacatta quartz counters were installed throughout the kitchen including the new waterfall peninsula.

This client wanted their Terrace Level to be comprised of the warm finishes and colors found in a true Tuscan home. Basement was completely unfinished so once we space planned for all necessary areas including pre-teen media area and game room, adult media area, home bar and wine cellar guest suite and bathroom; we started selecting materials that were authentic and yet low maintenance since the entire space opens to an outdoor living area with pool. The wood like porcelain tile used to create interest on floors was complimented by custom distressed beams on the ceilings. Real stucco walls and brick floors lit by a wrought iron lantern create a true wine cellar mood. A sloped fireplace designed with brick, stone and stucco was enhanced with the rustic wood beam mantle to resemble a fireplace seen in Italy while adding a perfect and unexpected rustic charm and coziness to the bar area. Finally decorative finishes were applied to columns for a layered and worn appearance. Tumbled stone backsplash behind the bar was hand painted for another one of a kind focal point. Some other important features are the double sided iron railed staircase designed to make the space feel more unified and open and the barrel ceiling in the wine cellar. Carefully selected furniture and accessories complete the look.

Our studio created the welcoming environment our client wanted for entertaining family and friends around the year. The pretty farmhouse-style kitchen has a lovely backsplash, comfortable seating, and traditional sink. The living room offers a cozy vibe for conversation with a stylish black-tile fireplace facing a plush sofa and accent chairs in light-colored performance fabrics and an elegant black armchair.
