A custom hand-tufted Octagon carpet from the David Hicks Collection quietly adds further texture to a dining area by Katie Ridder, where pattern, color, and form are exuberantly expressed.

Bedroom design by David Hicks from the 1stdibs Introspective article: "Required Reading: David Hicks" Originally from the Rizzoli publication by Ashley Hicks in 2009.

British David Hicks was the da Vinci of the modern interior… Daring, Brazen, Groovy and Glamorous.
The original mix master, Hicks shattered the traditional interior from the late 1950 to the early 1980‘s, replacing tea cup formal spaces with bold saturated colors, dramatic lighting, signature patterned carpets and a heady mix of antique and modern furnishings.
David Hicks invented the now ubiquitous tablescape, with its artful assemblage of contrasting objects and volumes.
Enthusiastically adopted by royalty, movie stars, the jet set, and au courant society, Hicks became the final word in international chic.
David Hicks Design showrooms, carpets and textiles, along with nine design books, made sure that Hicks became an instantly recognizable, global brand. Designers and tastemakers have reflected his bold pronouncements on style ever since.
We are embracing color, pattern and the pairing of antique with contemporary furnishings again, and David Hicks is still never far from the forefront!

Holiday House 2009 room, themed "Father's Day", Eric Cohler hand painted the wooden floor in a graphic black - and - white design inspired by David Hicks. Cubic lanterns of Cohler's design, embossed faux-crocodile ceiling covering, and a pair of Regency armchairs upholstered in black patent leather define the space.

This is another corner in the family room pictured above. The Saarinen table is a perfect game table for the family to spread puzzles out on or have a cup of coffee in the morning. The green vases and herringbone fabric on the mid-century modern chairs tie into the blue/green color scheme. The fine art on the walls adds a nice pop of yellow.

This family room is anchored by a large khaki sectional and patterned hexagonal David Hicks carpet. The purple wing chair and green leather ottoman complete the floor plan, while the floor lamp and overscale purple table lamp add ambiance. The blue linen roman blinds are trimmed in green to add interest and the accent pillows and throw blanket tie the whole color scheme together.

For this ground up project in one of Lafayette’s most prized neighborhoods, we brought an East Coast sensibility to this West Coast residence. Honoring the client’s love of classical interiors, we layered the traditional architecture with a crisp contrast of saturated colors, clean moldings and refined white marble. In the living room, tailored furnishings are punctuated by modern accents, bespoke draperies and jewelry like sconces. Built-in custom cabinetry, lasting finishes and indoor/outdoor fabrics were used throughout to create a fresh, elegant yet livable home for this active family of five.

This home is built by Robert Thomas Homes located in Minnesota. Our showcase models are professionally staged. Please contact Ambiance at Home for information on furniture - 952.440.6757

The couple living in this condo wanted more than basic plush carpet but didn't want a pattern that they could become tired of or overwhelm any future design options. So this tone on tone, cut-n-loop designed carpet was the perfect option.
