Inspired by their years in Japan and California and their Scandinavian heritage, we updated this 1938 home with a earthy palette and clean lines. Rift-cut white oak cabinetry, white quartz counters and a soft green tile backsplash are balanced with details that reference the home's history. Classic light fixtures soften the modern elements. We created a new arched opening to the living room and removed the trim around other doorways to enlarge them and mimic original arched openings. Removing an entry closet and breakfast nook opened up the overall footprint and allowed for a functional work zone that includes great counter space on either side of the range, when they had none before. The new pantry wall incorporates storage for the microwave, coat storage, and a bench for shoe removal.

Our clients have lived in this 1985 North Dallas home for almost 10 years, and it was time for a change. They had to decide whether to move or give the home an update. They were in a small quiet neighborhood tucked away near the popular suburb of Addison and also near the beautiful Celestial Park. Their backyard was like a hidden paradise, which is hard to find in Dallas, so they decided to update the two primary areas that needed it: the kitchen and the master bathroom. The kitchen had a black and white retro checkerboard tile floor, and the bathroom was very Tuscan. There were no cabinets on the main wall in the kitchen before. They were lacking space and functionality and desperately needed a complete overhaul in their kitchen. There were two entryways leading into the kitchen from the foyer, so one was closed off and the island was eliminated, giving them space for an entire wall of cabinets. The cabinets along this back kitchen wall were finished with a gorgeous River Rock stain. The cabinets on the other side of the kitchen were painted Polar, creating a seamless flow into the living room and creating a one-of-a-kind kitchen! Large 24x36 Elysium Tekali crema polished porcelain tiles created a simple, yet unique kitchen floor. The beautiful Levantina quartzite countertops pulled it all together and everything from the pop-up outlets in the countertops to the roll-up doors on the pantry cabinets, to the pull-out appliance shelves, makes this kitchen super functional and updated!

This Montana inspired kitchen was designed to reflect the homeowners' love of the great outdoors. Earthy wood tones and majestic granite complement the western decor of their home. Cherry cabinets have a western style door and rugged oil rubbed bronze handles. Two structural changes were made. First, a tray ceiling was created to increase the height of the kitchen. Next, the kitchen was opened up completely to the family room by removing a doorway and partial wall. The end of the peninsula curves around to invite everyone into the family room. The apothecary drawers (left of the dishwasher) add a rustic western charm. But the highlight of this kitchen is the custom built large pantry. A granite work surface within the pantry complete with electrical outlets allows the homeowner to use small appliances right where they located and stored. Upper shelves allow the homeowners to easily see their large and small pantry items along with generously sized spice racks on each door. Plenty of drawers and a second food pantry provide the needed storage for this active family.

Location: Bethesda, MD, USA We completely revamped the kitchen and breakfast areas and gave these spaces more natural light. They wanted a place that is both aesthetic and practical and we achieved this by having space for sitting in the breakfast space and the peninsulas on both sides of the kitchen, not to mention there is extra sitting space along the bay window with extra storage. The former kitchen was a bit of a “Plain Jane”, but we transformed it into a charming, modern country farmhouse kitchen. The custom paint color on the cabinets came from a Wood-Mode sample called “Agate.” This lovely paint color is a chameleon, ranging from gray/green, to a beautiful blue hue depending on the lighting conditions. The uniqueness of this color is what caught the homeowner’s eye and it has become a customer favorite. This Sterling home is the perfect setting for such a beautiful color! As a trained chef and former restaurant owner, the husband does all the cooking in the house. Ample room was needed for prepping and serving, so he loves the long, wide peninsula. A full-height quartz backsplash behind the range and sink make for easy clean up. Very deep drawers flank both sides of the range, and the top drawer has special storage for spices. The cabinet over the refrigerator has vertical partitions for both cookie sheets, trays and pans. A tall pantry to the right of the refrigerator is equipped with heavy duty wood rollouts perfect for storing dry goods. Conveniently located to the right of the sink is a double trash cabinet. The end of the peninsula also has a 27” wide cabinet with dual rollouts storing small appliances, casserole dishes & Tupperware. The new space has plenty of room for prepping, cooking and entertaining family and guests in the adjacent dining room. Stepping outside the “white & gray” of common paints into this beautiful custom color has delighted these customers and their friends. We find it both inviting and soothing, a cool color that will be stylish for years to come!
