Main bedroom wall finish is an American Clay base. A custom mineral tinted and intentionally-faded lime wash was applied on top to create the cerulean blue sky appearance on the walls. Vignette of artwork that includes a Navajo artist bird carving is from Frontier Plunder, a Utah antique shop near Zion National Park. Curio set of drawers repurposed from a handmade tool box. Antique linen flour sack picked up at a favorite North Shore flea market. The dresser is from Ethan Allen Furniture.

After handscraping these American Cherry floors, we double-dyed and finished with a final coat of Arboritec's Genuine (matte) two-component, commercial grade waterbased polyurethane. They are a much deeper color, distressed, and the new stairs and handrail are much more customized to the new homeowner's taste of transitional--traditional rustic elegance.

This client wanted to add a custom touch to the border with her new hardwood floors in the dining room.

The homeowners hadn't moved in yet and there was still some work to be finished by other contractors, but they were delighted with the way their refinished, hand scraped, double-dyed American Cherry floors dramatically customized their home. A new, more masculine, rustic (hand scraped) handrail was added with wrought iron balusters and new hand scraped, double-dyed American Cherry stairs as well.

Envisioned as a country retreat for New York based clients, this collection of buildings was designed by MossCreek to meet the clients' wishes of using historical and antique structures. Serving as a country getaway, as well as a unique home for their art treasures, this was both an enjoyable and satisfying project for MossCreek and our clients. Photo by Bjorn Wallander.
