The new floor plan offered more privacy for the water closet and cozier area for the round tub. A more spacious shower was created by shrinking the floor plan - by bringing the wall of the former living room entry into the bathroom it created a deeper shower space and the additional depth behind the wall offered deep towel storage. A living plant wall thrives and enjoys the humidity each time the shower is used. An oak wood wall gives a natural ambiance for a relaxing, nature inspired bathroom experience.

Base cabinets – other than the sink base – were designed with all drawers in sizes to accommodate various tools and supplies. We eliminated intrusive drawer pulls by specifying Accent C channels. It was imperative to keep such a small work area free of clutter. The solution was to employ Counter Wall cabinets with Tambour doors. The right is for “him” and the left for “her.” These cabinets are only 7” deep, but perfectly hide frequently used items, thereby keeping the countertop uncluttered at all times.

The primary clean up sink is a Shaw fireclay farm sink, flanked by the dishwasher on the left, and a two tiered silverware drawer over trash/recycling bins on the right. We took out a closet in the kitchen corner that housed the TV, viewed from the back room. We wanted to add the space to the kitchen for the new buffet but we needed to be sure not to intrude into the back room too much with the cabinetry for the TV components. We flushed the wall then put a cabinet through the wall to house the satellite receiver. The cabinet actually is set into the back of the buffet base cabinets, allowing an 18" deep cabinet look to be 8 inches deep. We took an outdated kitchen that was enclosed and shrunken by multiple bulky closets, updated it and opened it up by removing the closet intrusions and expanded the doorway and window to the expansive view of the river and pool area outside. We added lots of storage while taking away a lot of bulk.
