Vertical redwood siding wraps the studio from the deck all the way to the underside of the roof structure. Dark bronze aluminum windows by Fleetwood were tempered for the high fire severity zone.

It was arduous to find space for sleeping, reading, sewing, writing, painting and sitting - all within a 168 square foot room. Success depended on creative use of every nook and savvy space planning. There were two closets, so one was repurposed into a small office area. The mesh bins are used for storing sewing materials or other craft supplies.

This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. We turned an attic into a writer's garret. Honey-toned wood floors combine with warm gray wainscoting to make for an appealing space. Sconces by Portland's own Cedar & Moss. A live edge wall-to-wall walnut wood desk provides ample room for writing, mapping out research and story materials, and custom file folder and shelves tuck underneath.
