This project was all about resurfacing an existing deck, which provides a significant amount of benefits, including:
- Enhanced Aesthetics: A deck resurfacing project can transform the appearance of the deck, giving it a fresh and modern look that can significantly improve the curb appeal of the entire home.
- Cost Savings: Resurfacing is often more cost-effective than completely rebuilding a deck. It allows homeowners to achieve a like-new appearance without the expense of a full replacement.
- Increased Durability: New materials used in resurfacing are designed to be more resistant to wear, fading, and the elements, resulting in a longer lifespan for the deck.
- Improved Safety: Addressing structural issues during the resurfacing process ensures the deck's safety and stability, reducing the risk of accidents.
- Less Disruption: Compared to a full deck replacement, resurfacing typically involves less disruption to the homeowner's daily routine, as it's a faster and less invasive process.
- Customization: Homeowners can choose from a wide range of materials, colors, and finishes to match their design preferences and complement their home's style.
- Environmentally Friendly: Resurfacing reduces the amount of old material that needs to be disposed of, making it a more environmentally conscious option.
By undertaking a deck resurfacing project, homeowners can rejuvenate their outdoor space, enjoy a beautiful and functional deck for years to come and increase the overall value of their property.

This unique opportunity to design a new home in Millport was one which JAM Architects relished. The location of the site on a hill on the outskirts of the village presented an opportunity to design a new two bedroom home taking advantage of the views of the ocean. The unusual floorplan design with a ‘kink’ at the centre point of the building is as a result of this with the front of the home orientated to address the street and the rear half positioned to ensure the best views from the corner window in the livingroom and the master bedroom window.
As a result of a recent accident our client for this project was unfortunately left with some mobility issues and our brief was therefore to design a two bedroom home with all the primary accomodation on the ground floor, with a studio space, guest bedroom and guest shower room on the first floor. The ground floor consists of a open plan kitchen, dining and living room with direct access to a generous outside patio area. In addition to this living space there is also a utility room, w.c, master bedroom and ensuite bathroom.
On the first floor our client was also keen to take advantage of the sea views from this elevated position and a sheletered balcony area has been incorporated adjacent to the studio space.

Home built by Hibbs Homes, St Louis custom home builder.
This new construction custom home was built for a family on a private wooded lot in Wildwood. Surrounded by acres of forest, this home offers total privacy, while allowing for ample natural light and views of the nearby scenery.
Light colors, beautiful wood, natural light, and custom tile are a design theme throughout the home. The light color palette paired with the large windows, which allow in natural light, makes the home light and bright.
Beautiful wood is a feature throughout the home. Timber beams accent the main floor, extending from the kitchen, through the dining, and living rooms. The kitchen island and bathroom vanities all feature reclaimed wood paired with white ceramic sinks.
A finished lower level was built for this family’s young children to have plenty of space to play. The lower level features Earthwerks Derby Plank flooring throughout. The flooring is naturally beautiful and durable – forgiving of messes and accidents that may occur when young children play.

This beautiful spa was built as part of a new home. The goal was to design a very calming retreat where the family could pamper themselves and rejuvenate.
The area was designed off an adjacent exercise room. The space included a jacuzzi lap pool, steam room, sauna and dressing area. A skylight “well of light” was designed to bring natural light into one end of the pool area. Cubbyholes and a bench with hooks were incorporated into one end of the room for towels, robes and miscellaneous items. A vanity area was placed immediately outside the room with a matching storage piece by the pool area.
The natural limestone flooring and Wenge color cabinets gave the room a fen shui feel. The end result of this remodel is a beautiful and highly functional space that is completely unique to the homeowner!

Elaine’s all-white IKEA kitchen is a stunning combination of IKEA RINGHULT cabinetry, IKEA GREVSTA stainless steel cabinetry for the massive kitchen island, along with a variety of high-end appliances.
This creates a very minimalist, sleek look throughout the layout.
“I chose IKEA cabinets because it appealed to my aesthetics and fit into our busy lifestyle,” she says. “I wanted an all-white kitchen that has a modern clean design but was still family-friendly and easy to maintain.”
“I also liked being able to easily replace a shelf or a drawer if I needed to make a change or if there was a minor accident by an overactive child or clumsy adult. I can see that the cabinets are extremely high quality and can withstand a few dings from a busy family,” she adds.
This also includes a ton of storage throughout with the IKEA RINGHULT cabinetry featured around the upper perimeter of the kitchen; from around the refrigerator, above the countertops and Bosch induction cooktop and around the Whirlpool microwave/oven wall combo.
More storage is found with the IKEA GREVSTA stainless steel cabinetry in the kitchen island.
Not only is this a perfect choice as it reduces fingerprints and smudges (from active young children) but also provides an ideal spot for pots, pans or other serving dishes located conveniently near the Fisher Paykel two-drawer dishwasher.
In fact, all the cabinetry drawers used not only serve a functional role for storage but also enhance the modern kitchen design as well –especially with the minimalist theme.
To that end, she adds that her favorite part of her IKEA kitchen is the cooking area.
“I like how the new cooktop fits seamlessly into the space, and the XO range hood is hidden inside the upper wall cabinet,” she concludes.
