This tired kitchen needed an update for some serious cooks moving in. A young couple, accompanied by her Mother, were used to cooking three fresh meals each day, utilizing almost every appliance and cooking utensil to be found. I started by blowing out the space, scraping the peninsula and all that was left was a custom stainless range hood to begin with. The clients needs were 2 36" Refrigerators and only 2 freezer drawers. Hence, fresh cooking. The number of large appliances was so great that we decided to use flush front cabinets to yield clean lines and remove focus from the multitude of appliances. The 12' island housed 2 freezer drawers, a steam oven, a warming drawer, and a drawer microwave oven along with seating for 4 mid-way along the island. Authentic Quartzite was the only choice for these cooks who had no time to worry of stains.A wood look floor was desired, but not practical and I used a 7" x 48" wood tile plank. Opposite the stove is a TV and sitting area for those wanting to be a part of the action, but not involved.

It begins with a 3 ft. X 7 ft. island with white panel cabinets, brushed nickel hardware and Granite countertop. For my personal projects, I prefer Granite over Quartz for kitchen countertops. Quartz contains 92% aggregate and 8% high-grade epoxies. Sometimes setting a hot pan or plate on a Quartz counter will leave a permanent mark.
Three pendant lights over the island provide the right design touch, while several recessed lights and under-cabinet lighting throughout adds to the ambience. And as always, all lights are on dimmers.
One side of the island allows comfortable seating for four, while the other side boasts spacious storage with 2 deep drawers and 5 cabinets, as well as two key appliances. The photo above shows how food preparation traffic moves from the fridge to island to range and finally sink and dishwasher. The golden triangle in action!
An Avallon beverage center is located on the “cold foods” side of the island. This stainless-steel under-counter split-zone refrigerator is sure to please every wine and beer enthusiast. The left side is cooled to 58 degrees for wine, while the right side cools down to 34 degrees for beer. Both sides feature pull-out shelves, and each side is lockable for safety.
Moving down to the “warm foods” side of the island is a Thermador microwave drawer, which has easy access from above. We also chose Thermador for our fridge, ovens, gas range and dishwasher.

Chicagoland Home Products provided a custom storage solution in this children’s play area in Chicago, where there was play space but no place to put away and store the toys. With careful planning, quality design and installation, CHP left room for the kids to roam, access the play table and utilize the hutch that was already in the room.
Flanking both sides of the hutch, from which unicorns can now survey a much tidier domain, drawers and storage shelves provide a home where toys can take a time-out and wait for kids to call them into action. Now, properly stored stuffed animals, games, books and more give little feet space to move about.
Base molding keeps things that roll and bounce from getting trapped under the storage cabinets. Crown molding seems an appropriate touch in this small kingdom. The units are dressed in glossy white from the top shelves down to the drawers.
That’s what Chicagoland Home Products can do for your child’s things in his or her playroom. CHP can, also, provide wonderful storage solutions for your toys in the garage and basement. In fact, wherever storage and productivity answers are needed in office or home, one call to CHP will give you the help you need. Contact us now for a free in-home consultation.

Holly comments:
“What I noticed right away about the visit to Celebrity IOU/ Jeremy Renner was the coordination that was taking place. There were a lot of workers, a lot of cars and trucks meaning the logistics in a tight side street is tricky. They keep everyone moving. No Stopping could be the motto.
Once we went in, we signed documents, they took our pictures – my joke was that they did it so they would know who to cut from the show…my joke turned into foreshadowing, unfortunately.
Inside the house, it was similar to the outside, lots of people, lots of movement. You had to find an area and not get in the way.
Once the taping was about to start, the camera operators were in place, the mics were tested and they yelled: “Quiet on the set”. It felt very official. I enjoyed seeing Jonathan in action because I could see how natural he is in front of the camera. There were not many retakes if any. He really enjoys both the personal conversations as well as the materials and installation conversations.
Outside, the neighbors were stopping by and Jonathan could not have been more gracious. He took pics with the neighbors, joked around, and gave hugs.
At the end of a hot, sticky day, he jumped into his black limo and was wisked away. We stayed to figure out the installation.”

Once a small enclosed kitchen, this spacious kitchen became absolutely amazing once we removed the wall between the kitchen and laundry room. Moving the laundry room to the second level allowed for two islands and appliances any family of five would love. The two requests my client had was to make their kitchen organized and family friendly. I created zones throughout the kitchen to make the ease of use much more efficient. The prep island with butcher block has all of the cooking essentials close by. The refrigerator and microwave were strategically placed so that the children may access at anytime, while others may continue cooking. The large island allows for plenty of seating on one side, storage for cookbooks on both ends and a baking station opposite of the seating. Separated from the everyday action is a wonderful bar area for the adults in the home. I designed the space to not only have separate zones with cabinetry, but also with lighting. Each space has specific lighting to improve on the tasks at hand. The butlers pantry was designed to give storage and counter space leading into the dining room. To add more function to the area, the top drawer has a built in charging station with enough space for all tablets and phones. This fun family of fives kitchen is not only beautiful to look at, but serves well the heart of the home!
