This family throws some mean parties where large crowds usually sit at the poolside. There’s an entire section of this walk out second level that is dedicated to entertaining which also gives access to the pool in the backyard. This place comes alive at night with built in surround sounds and LED lights. There was just one issue. The kitchen. The kitchen did not fit in. It was old, outdated, out-styled and nonfunctional. They knew the kitchen had to be address eventually but they just didn’t want to redo the kitchen. They wanted to revamp the kitchen, so they asked us to come in and look at the space to see how we can design this second floor kitchen in their New Rochelle home. It was a small kitchen, strategically located where it could be the hub that the family wanted it to be. It held its own amongst everything that was in the open space like the big screen TV, fireplace and pool table. That is exactly what we did in the design and here is how we did it. First, we got rid of the kitchen table and by doing so we created a peninsular. This eventually sets up the space for a couple of really cool pendant lights, some unique counter chairs and a wine cooler that was purchased before but never really had a home. We then turned our attention to the range and hood. This was not the main kitchen, so wall storage wasn’t the main goal here. We wanted to create a more open feel interaction while in the kitchen, hence we designed the free standing chimney hood alone to the left of the window. We then looked at how we can make it more entertaining. We did that by adding a Wine rack on a buffet style type area. This wall was free and would have remained empty had we not find a way to add some more glitz. Finally came the counter-top. Every detail was crucial because the view of the kitchen can be seen from when you enter the front door even if it was on the second floor walk out. The use of the space called for a waterfall edge counter-top and more importantly, the stone selection to further accentuate the effect. It was crucial that there was movement in the stone which connects to the 45 degree waterfall edge so it would be very dramatic. Nothing was overlooked in this space. It had to be done this way if it was going to have a fighting chance to take command of its territory. This completed character Kitchen designed & crafted especially for our Client's Victorian Farmhouse was completely renovated top to bottom to ensure old electrical & ventilation issues were addressed. The Walls & Ceilings were levelled and new materials added for insulation value & health. The fascinating original patina of the wainscoting & floors was left as is. An interior Wall was supported, engineered & removed to allow the natural light from an exterior Window to enter the main Kitchen & to create an expansive run of Cabinets from the Cooking zone to the Cleaning zone. Custom Cabinetry throughout & utilization of the vertical storage potential were fully utilized. Just north of Seattle, this family home is tucked away on a magical parcel of land within the Edmonds city limits. Designed to maximize the site’s breathtaking views, it is carefully sited to blend into its wooded setting while opening fully to expansive views. On our first visit, we found a secluded forest glade with stunning vistas of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains perched atop a high seaside bluff. Preserving and enhancing this singular landscape as the surrounding neighborhood fills in with development was central to our design. The approach is intentionally restrained—the home does not reveal itself entirely upon arrival. The house is composed of two wings that cradle the meadow, making it the most important “room.” Interior spaces are oriented towards the lush landscape and impressive views framed by mature trees. The structures are kept close to the perimeter, leaving the center of the site unbuilt. A covered bridge with a green roof acts as a front porch, linking the upslope garage/office with the main house. A gentle stair flows through the gap between the structures, drawing visitors into the clearing. The floorplan is highly efficient, carefully tuned to the family’s daily routines. Each room is exactly suited to its purpose, yet no larger than needed. An open corner with double-height windows creates a jewel-box dining room. Free of a corner structure, the home expands to encompass the covered patio for outdoor cooking and dining, plus easy access to the kitchen, encouraging year-round outdoor living. Human-scale moments are intentionally created, from a stairway window seat with peekaboo views to a covered outdoor extension of the great room that fosters a cozy relationship between interior and exterior. When approached by the client for this particular project, their primary goal was a comprehensive kitchen remodel that also involved transforming an underused closet into a hidden walk-in pantry. Recognizing the potential of this space adjacent to the kitchen, we aimed to seamlessly integrate it into the overall design, offering practical storage solutions and enhancing functionality. The addition of a walk-in pantry not only addressed the need for increased storage but also allowed us to declutter the main kitchen area. Items such as the microwave, beverage fridge, coffee maker, and various baked goods found a designated place, optimizing the kitchen's efficiency and organization.

This backyard and pool remodeling project involved a complete transformation of the outdoor space into a sophisticated and functional retreat. The swimming pool was entirely resurfaced with a fresh plaster finish, restoring its vibrant color and smooth texture while improving durability. The pool’s edges were upgraded with elegant bullnose concrete paver coping, providing a rounded, polished finish that blends safety with visual appeal. Surrounding the pool, new concrete paver decking was installed in a clean, modern layout that enhances foot traction and complements the overall hardscape design. To address the natural slope of the yard, a dramatic three-tier terrace system was constructed using retaining walls. These terraced levels not only provide structural support but also create defined spaces for planting, seating, and movement. Integrated into the landscape are custom-poured concrete benches, offering permanent, low-maintenance seating areas that match the texture and tone of the surrounding pavers and walls. An outdoor kitchen was added to maximize the yard’s entertaining potential. Designed for both form and function, it includes built-in appliances and storage framed in matching stone finishes. Above the kitchen, an Alumawood lattice patio cover offers partial shade and a refined architectural touch, combining the appearance of wood with the durability of aluminum. The open lattice design allows dappled sunlight while helping to define the cooking and dining area. Perimeter enhancements include the installation of decorative wrought iron fencing and a matching gate, adding both security and style to the space. When approached by the client for this particular project, their primary goal was a comprehensive kitchen remodel that also involved transforming an underused closet into a hidden walk-in pantry. Recognizing the potential of this space adjacent to the kitchen, we aimed to seamlessly integrate it into the overall design, offering practical storage solutions and enhancing functionality. The addition of a walk-in pantry not only addressed the need for increased storage but also allowed us to declutter the main kitchen area. Items such as the microwave, beverage fridge, coffee maker, and various baked goods found a designated place, optimizing the kitchen's efficiency and organization.

Our clients came to us with a house that did not inspire them but which they knew had the potential to give them everything that they dreamed of. They trusted in our approach and process and over the course of the year we designed and gut renovated the first floor of their home to address the seen items and unseen structural needs including: a new custom kitchen with walk-in pantry and functional island, new living room space and full master bathroom with large custom shower, updated living room and dining, re-facing and redesign of their fireplace and stairs to the second floor, new wide-plank white oaks floors throughout, interior painting, new trim and mouldings throughout.

The process begins with my window treatment and soft furnishings consultation, which is a comprehensive design working design session filled with exiting ideas, inspiration and solutions. I bring a bespoke tray of carefully curated fabrics, trims, and wallpaper - your introduction to a world of possibilities. After a design direction has been established, I will source beautiful fabrics and trims from a variety of trade resources, including the prestigious D&D building in Manhattan. We shall reconvene and have an enjoyable, creative exchange of ideas and determine the perfect design scheme for each room. Professional measuring, frequent liaison with my bespoke workroom to ensure that every last detail has been addressed, followed by expert installation completes the design process.

This backyard and pool remodeling project involved a complete transformation of the outdoor space into a sophisticated and functional retreat. The swimming pool was entirely resurfaced with a fresh plaster finish, restoring its vibrant color and smooth texture while improving durability. The pool’s edges were upgraded with elegant bullnose concrete paver coping, providing a rounded, polished finish that blends safety with visual appeal. Surrounding the pool, new concrete paver decking was installed in a clean, modern layout that enhances foot traction and complements the overall hardscape design. To address the natural slope of the yard, a dramatic three-tier terrace system was constructed using retaining walls. These terraced levels not only provide structural support but also create defined spaces for planting, seating, and movement. Integrated into the landscape are custom-poured concrete benches, offering permanent, low-maintenance seating areas that match the texture and tone of the surrounding pavers and walls. An outdoor kitchen was added to maximize the yard’s entertaining potential. Designed for both form and function, it includes built-in appliances and storage framed in matching stone finishes. Above the kitchen, an Alumawood lattice patio cover offers partial shade and a refined architectural touch, combining the appearance of wood with the durability of aluminum. The open lattice design allows dappled sunlight while helping to define the cooking and dining area. Perimeter enhancements include the installation of decorative wrought iron fencing and a matching gate, adding both security and style to the space. Finally, low-voltage landscape lighting was strategically placed throughout the yard, accenting key features such as the retaining walls, benches, and pathways.
