This living room started from a blank canvas. The client had just recently moved in and had no furniture except for a desk in her office. My initial goal was to figure out what she was looking for, her preferred style, and color palette. She told me her must-haves: plenty of seating for friend gatherings, lots of plants, neutral tones, and a midcentury style with a twist. Given her preferences and needs, I went to work. Luckily, I’m quite savvy with resources including Facebook Marketplace, Next Door, Offer-up, and Instagram as well as using various online and local retailers. This porch, located in Grant Park, had been the same for many years with typical rocking chairs and a couch. The client wanted to make it feel more like an outdoor room and add much needed storage for gardening tools, an outdoor dining option, and a better flow for seating and conversation. My thought was to add plants to provide a more cozy feel, along with the rugs, which are made from recycled plastic and easy to clean. To add curtains on the north and south sides of the porch; this reduces rain entry, wind exposure, and adds privacy. This Grant Park house was built in 1999. With that said, this bathroom was dated, builder grade with a tiny shower (3 ft x 3 ft) and a large jacuzzi-style 90s tub. The client was interested in a much larger shower, and he really wanted a sauna if squeeze it in there. Because this bathroom was tight, I decided we could potentially go into the large walk-in closet and expand to include a sauna. The client was looking for a refreshing coastal theme, a feel good space that was completely different than what existed. This was a complete full bath renovation in July 2020. This home was built in 1935, it’s located on Marion Ave, in Grant Park, Atlanta, Georgia. The client came to me wanting a complete makeover of the bathroom that combined aesthetics and utility.
