As part of this character home addition, the kitchen became the focal hub of the family activity area. The existing kitchen was dated, closed off from the rest of the residence, and simply too small to meet the demands of the young family. The space was enlarged as part of the home addition, adding a generous 8ft to the space from the built-fridge to the stove wall. The location of the fridge closes off what used to be the entry to the dining room beyond, and a new entry created to the right of the spacious counter surface to the right. A focal island was created to offer ample preparation and socialization space. The gas Wolfe range and grill creates a focal point at the end of the space and ensures the work triangle remains tight and out of the way of the social and circulation spaces. Quartz countertops along the perimeter mimic Carrara Marble, while the granite showpiece island countertop is truly a work of art. Dual sinks provide ample preparation space and the built-in appliances center on the rooms' focal points. Rich dark stained hardwoods in a charcoal stain, reflect the black granite countertop and help anchor and define the space. The use of white opens up the space keeping it bright, airy, and cheerful.
