MOON HILL BATH - WINNER 2013 PRISM AWARD - BEST BATHROOM Initially designed in 1950, this antiquated bathroom was ready for an update. The home, envisioned by The Architect’s Collaborative (a progressive group founded in part by Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius), is part of a community inspired by the modernism movement. Clearly in need of aesthetic and functional improvements, the new renovation stays true to its utilitarian modern heritage. SPACE By reclaiming underutilized closet space from an abutting home office, the re-visioned plan feels more spacious, even with the addition of a deep soaking tub. The new layout also shields the toilet from view when the door is left open. COLORS The harsh yellow tones have been replaced by a warm palette of soft grays and browns. Daylight is refracted through cut glass window art, created by the homeowner. SIMPLICITY Contiguous tile work, carefully patterned, weaves through the space. Simplicity and added storage complete the design by removing the normal visual clutter of a bathroom and offering the reassurance of clean organization. Pegboards inside the custom medicine cabinet create a discrete place for every bathroom accessory. RESULT The final result is a modern oasis with soothing spa-like qualities that offers an escape from frenetically paced everyday life. This coffee station lacked organization, with tea and coffee pods crammed into a single drawer. Without any dividers, finding the right item was a hassle, and the lack of visual appeal diminished the overall aesthetic of the space.

Set in the beautiful mountain range 'Sierra de las Nieves' in Southern Spain - this is an outdoor adventure you're not likely to forget!! Offering all the comforts of home with the luxury of a 5 star hotelroom - the airstream is an oasis of luxury in the middle of Nature. Modelled on the original 1930's classic, she's the perfect combination of retro nostalgia and contemporary design. The surrounding scenery is stunning, and there are plenty of nature trails and treks to be explored. Owner Trevor lives close by, and is always happy to lend a hand with trip planning and advice etc. A 20 minute walk down the mountain track will lead to the nearby village of 'Alozaina' - a typically Spanish 'pueblo blanco' which has retained much of its rustic charm. Life is slow here, and not to be rushed! There are several tapas bars, cafes, and a couple of decent restaurants, as well shops and even a small supermarket. Further afield, there is much to explore. Nearby excursions include the historical town of Ronda - and the oldest bullring in Spain, the elegant city of Malaga, Seville, Marbella & jet-setting Puerto Banus, and the picturesque 'pueblo blanco' of Ojen. Car hire is essential in order to fully enjoy the area. If you have any questions about the glamping experience, or the airstream itself - please ask. Inspiration for a contemporary home office remodel in Singapore

Knob Creek Residence The design of this home explores the relationship of a structure and its site. Nestling itself low into the site at the public side, this home uses the land to forge some privacy. Conversely, the home’s other side is perched on and wrapped by layers of cast-in-place concrete, opening to expansive views of a creek valley at its rear. The home’s main spaces focus outward, capturing the beautiful wooded setting. The design provides layers of outdoor living options including uncovered patios, covered decks, and opening wall systems so interiors can open up to exterior. There’s opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, which our clients love to do, during any season. A huge design consideration was including space for this active family to play volleyball, skateboard, or practice archery indoors. The recreation center is a separate pod that is as responsive to the site and the design of the home as it is to the family’s needs. Concept Diagrams.

Inspiration for a transitional dark wood floor living room remodel in Singapore with white walls

This 1990's home, located in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley neighbourhood, had high ceilings and a great open plan layout but the decor was straight out of the 90's complete with sponge painted walls in dark earth tones. The owners, a young professional couple, enlisted our help to take it from dated and dreary to modern and bright. We started by removing details like chair rails and crown mouldings, that did not suit the modern architectural lines of the home. We replaced the heavily worn wood floors with a new high end, light coloured, wood-look laminate that will withstand the wear and tear from their two energetic golden retrievers. Since the main living space is completely open plan it was important that we work with simple consistent finishes for a clean modern look. The all white kitchen features flat doors with minimal hardware and a solid surface marble-look countertop and backsplash. We modernized all of the lighting and updated the bathrooms and master bedroom as well. The only departure from our clean modern scheme is found in the dressing room where the client was looking for a more dressed up feminine feel but we kept a thread of grey consistent even in this more vivid colour scheme. This transformation, featuring the clients' gorgeous original artwork and new custom designed furnishings is admittedly one of our favourite projects to date!
