Our client's love for plants translates beautifully into this space with a sage green double vanity that brings life and serenity into their master bath retreat. When a visual artist purchases a mass production home in one of Wilmington, NC’s developing neighborhoods, she quickly realizes that the builder’s standard house plans and amenity options lack the personality she craved. A chance visit to the Kitchen & Bath Design Studio showroom proves to be ‘love at first sight’ when a designer listens to the artist’s needs and immediately produces a tile sample that matches the artist’s vision. Can our designer achieve the client’s vision while respecting the production builder’s restrictions and architectural plans? Of course she can!
To satisfy the client’s wish list, the kitchen design required a larger island, more counter space, and semi-custom cabinetry. The client settled on Brazilian cherry-style flooring, her favorite of the builder-approved upgrades for flooring. Iridescent glass mosaic tile and multiple chandelier pendants brought in the “bling factor” at the top of the client’s list—she has penchant for “bright, shiny objects” and wanted her kitchen to reflect a Farmhouse Chic or Rustic Glam aesthetic. Left to her own devices, the client would have veered toward a more liberal, Liberace-esque application of bling, so the designer introduced a neutral color palette and warm, polished nickel finishes as a counterbalance to all of that sparkle and shine.
Working within the builder’s constraints, the designer made changes to the kitchen’s layout to increase island workspace and nearly double countertop space. The client had to go with an entry-level builder-approved refrigerator available in only one fridge counter depth size. So the designer moved the pantry location, situating it behind the refrigerator and then recessed the refrigerator into the pantry to cheat the counter depth needed to flow seamlessly with the semi-custom cabinetry line. She also maximized drawers and upper cabinets to increase storage space, but did not take the upper cabinets to the ceiling to respect the home’s half crown molding details.

This is a home built in 1885 in Nashville. The kitchen is part of an old shed style addition with cabinets from around 1960.
We want to keep the feel of the home, but give it the modern conveniences the homeowner deserves.
Notable Items here are the led lighting, leathered granite, and the chalkboard backsplash for guest to sign!
The final two photos shows the house and the siding we replaced with a Japanese wood approved by the historic society.

The building known as the “Stable” exists within the Historic District of Fairfield, Connecticut on Old Academy Road. As such, any work performed on the structure required prior approval of the Historic District Commission.
Domus Constructors was hired to completely gut and remodel this historic structure to maintain the historic significance while bringing the building’s mechanical and electrical systems up to date and restoring the structural integrity.
Some of the more prominent architectural features of the building include a very large center cupola which needed much restoration, a wood roof that was covered over by asphalt shingles and exterior doors that were historically significant and needed extensive restoration.
While these items were all constraints, Domus also excavated an existing dirt subfloor and replaced the entire area with a vapor barrier and concrete slab crawl space to allow access to plumbing, etc.
Other special features include the wooden ceiling and exposed hand hewn oak beams and columns installed throughout using antique reclaimed wood, and the antique reclaimed wood flooring and restoring the multi-colored slate entrance terrace.
The overall size of the structure is 63 feet in length by 26 feet deep for an approximate total of 1,638 square feet.

This property was in badly in need of repair. The owner is a widow that has owned the property for 20 years and has a limited budget for the repairs on the property. We were able to help her develop a budget and plan to execute the work to insure her limited budget was spent wisely. These are pictures of phase 1 which was residing and painting of the exterior of the property. The exterior was the first phase because the house was not weather tight any longer. This phase was budgeted at $15,000 but there were a lot of unknowns as far as how much rot had penetrated into the structure requiring further repair. We were able to provide allowances for what these items might be up front. At then end the we only found minor structural damage that had to be paired and final bill came in at $15,900. Unfortunately phases 2 & 3 of this project are currently on hold awaiting approval of an insurance claim from the 2021 February Freeze. Screen porch, decking and handrail repairs where not include in the phase 1 scope of work on this project.
