Updating a modern classic These clients adore their home’s location, nestled within a 2-1/2 acre site largely wooded and abutting a creek and nature preserve. They contacted us with the intent of repairing some exterior and interior issues that were causing deterioration, and needed some assistance with the design and selection of new exterior materials which were in need of replacement. Our new proposed exterior includes new natural wood siding, a stone base, and corrugated metal. New entry doors and new cable rails completed this exterior renovation. Additionally, we assisted these clients resurrect an existing pool cabana structure and detached 2-car garage which had fallen into disrepair. The garage / cabana building was renovated in the same aesthetic as the main house.

I designed this ADA bathroom and assisted the homeowner in making all of the fixture, material and finish choices while working at Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths. Our client needed to update this bathroom for her husband who uses a walker and needs assistance with daily bathing and such. We installed a frameless glass shower with a fixed panel and one slider section. In the fixed panel, we installed a small door so the controls for the shower can be accessed without having to enter the shower. A linear drain allows for a zero threshold entry into the shower allowing for the bather to enter without any barrier to step over. We installed an American Standard Cadet Pro Right Height toilet and places blocking in the wall so drop down grab bars (one with a toilet paper holder) could be added if wanted at a later time. We decided to install a narrower vanity than what was previously installed to allow more room in the toilet area. Maple flat panel cabinetry was installed with Silestone Phoenix quuartz countertops and backsplash with a Kohler Caxton undermount sink with a Moen single handle faucet. Grab bars were installed in the shower stall and at the entry to the shower, along with a Speakman grab bar shower system with Hansgrohe shower controls. A combo niche for shampoo and such was installed close to the handheld showerhead for easy access. LED lighting was added to the shower area on it's own dimmer switch. An additional LED fixture was installed over the vanity to provide excellent task lighting for anyone using the vanity. The door to the bedroom was also changed to a pocket door and widened to allow easier access to the bathroom from the bedroom.

Doing a remodel with the thought of long term should always be in mind. So when doing this project i knew i didn't want grout in the shower, then what are my options for something that looks timeless, would stand up to years of soaps, shampoo and still look great in years to come. I had seen these sheets of porcelain from Spain at a trade show a number of years ago, it seemed that for my own bath it was a good project to give them a try. These are available in different sizes and thicknesses and i am really happy with them. The cast iron bath tub with an antiqued chrome wrap is the Whitby from Penhaglion, it sits in front of the window which has an opaque small patterned film covering the once clear glass. The bath and sink faucets, come from Penhaglion, that I have to say is an amazing company to work with. Heated floors in the bath and shower area as well as a Toto toilet, all pulled together with a vintage sideboard that was refinished to suite the plumbing of the 2 drop in sinks. recent kitchen remodel in Chantilly, VA completed by KBF by Audi Contractors with design assistance from Sallie Finney Kjos with Grey Hunt Interiors. As a company we work with a handful of select interior design firms to assist with large scale remolding projects. For this project, Sallie tasked us to create a more efficient kitchen so that her client’s entire family could enjoy for years to come. Our Leesburg Design Team quickly got to work by removing the inefficient walk in pantry and small pony wall next to the old fridge. We decided to move the fridge, range and microwave into spaces that were much more efficient. By removing the cooktop off the island, we were able to create a large prep island that could house 3 stools for her kids to sit and converse while cooking was happening. With Sallies guidance, the client selected products and colors that were inviting and clean. This was definitely a fun project to work on, the client is super excited. We are blessed to have Sallie as a partner and for her awesome clients

Designed from Start to Finish When this homeowner began the design phase of a new home, the experts at Braen Supply were immediately called. Braen Supply assisted in all phases of the design, after walking the grounds we were able to provide ideas and assist with the driveway and patio layout. Then, taking into consideration how the stone on the driveway, walkway, patio and fireplace would work with one another, the homeowner allowed our experts to pick and choose the materials that would complement the home and best accentuate its features. Customizing the Materials In order to achieve this goal, Braen Supply created custom 3” driveway cobbles, which have become so popular that they are now in stock in our Wanaque location.

The owners of this magnificent fly-in/ fly-out lodge had a vision for a home that would showcase their love of nature, animals, flying and big game hunting. Featured in the 2011 Design New York Magazine, we are proud to bring this vision to life. Chuck Smith, AIA, created the architectural design for the timber frame lodge which is situated next to a regional airport. Heather DeMoras Design Consultants was chosen to continue the owners vision through careful interior design and selection of finishes, furniture and lighting, built-ins, and accessories. HDDC's involvement touched every aspect of the home, from Kitchen and Trophy Room design to each of the guest baths and every room in between. Drawings and 3D visualization were produced for built in details such as massive fireplaces and their surrounding mill work, the trophy room and its world map ceiling and floor with inlaid compass rose, custom molding, trim & paneling throughout the house, and a master bath suite inspired by and Oak Forest. A home of this caliber requires and attention to detail beyond simple finishes. Extensive tile designs highlight natural scenes and animals. Many portions of the home received artisan paint effects to soften the scale and highlight architectural features. Artistic balustrades depict woodland creatures in forest settings. To insure the continuity of the Owner's vision, we assisted in the selection of furniture and accessories, and even assisted with the selection of windows and doors, exterior finishes and custom exterior lighting fixtures. Interior details include ceiling fans with finishes and custom detailing to coordinate with the other custom lighting fixtures of the home. The Dining Room boasts of a bronze moose chandelier above the dining room table. Along with custom furniture, other touches include a hand stitched Mennonite quilt in the Master Bedroom and murals by our decorative artist.

1 1 C.H. Burnham Inc., in partnership with Ciaran Rafferty Construction, completed this four car garage in Pacific Heights in early April, 2010. From precision excavation and shotcrete construction to the installation of marble slabs and plaster cast egg and dart trim, this project demanded expertise in every aspect of construction. Completed in both a timely matter and on budget, you will see in the following photos, our crews, with the assistance of Mulholland Electric, West Cork Welding, Hughes Plastering, Fong’s Plumbing & Fire Protection, and VBE Inc., efficiently executed a complex project. pacific-heights-san-francisco-remodel-1 Before we could begin excavation for the garage, we needed to dig three 20′ deep underpinnings by hand beneath the 1906 home’s existing foundation. After we had successfully supported the home and installed the temporary shoring, we brought in expert excavator Billy Vaughn, owner of VBE Inc. Considering we were building up to both the western and eastern property lines, we excavated, formed and erected the walls in stages so as to not place the neighboring structures or the workmen in any unnecessary danger. After the walls and spread footers were complete, we poured a 10″ thick slab roof. While the roof slab cured, we installed the tapered sleeper joists for the deck. We then removed the supports for the roof slab and poured the slab floor. 1 1 C.H. After visiting several marble suppliers, we found a carrera marble that matched the existing steps (installed over 100 years ago) and polished/antiqued the materials accordingly. A few more elements, including a cement tiled entryway and a custom garage door, completed the integration of the new structure with the existing home. After cleaning the property and touching things up, we received the certificate of occupancy.

Ever heard some say “It has good bones?” Well, no one had ever said that about this house; it needed a major overhaul - “A TOTAL GUT.” It’s saving grace was: 1. It’s enthusiastic new homeowners. 2. The expansive and gorgeous views of Okanagan Lake. 
 We were asked to assist our clients with big-picture-planning for their newest investment property. Upon initial walk through of the home, it was immediately evident there were many previous ‘bandaid-type’ updates that it had gone through over the years. This house was in prime need of an overhaul inside and out: - multiple dropped Ceilings with layers of Plumbing add ons - wall to wall Carpet -a tired Bathtub directly inside the Master Bedroom - a “dreaded” Corner Kitchen Sink -multiple add ons involving three confusing front entry doors Discovering what was previously done and the quandary of why these things were done is always so interesting to discover and can be very overwhelming for clients. A big part of what we love most about Design is helping to propose new ideas to revitalize and improve all that has come before. It is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of our work. Our Renovation Strategy began in Layout Design for optimizing Interior & Exterior flow, moving into Concept & Style Planning, Millwork and Finish Selections. We then created an ordered implementation sequence which would allow the homeowners to live on one floor while the other was being renovated Later they would move to the finished floor and renovate the remaining areas. Once complete, the home quickly sold and we look forwards to assisting these happy investors on their next endeavour.
