Land-to-ceiling windows line the south side of the dining room, keeping the sunken space from feeling buried under ground. The windows glide open on tracks, virtually eliminating the boundary between inside and out. Tucked beneath the overhang of the master bedroom above, the dining room greatly benefits from the shade during the summer months, although wintertime can also be cool. With regard to the original single-pain windows, the Fishers continue to research their options for greater efficiency. "Replacing them would be astronomically expensive and tamper with the aesthetics of the house," explains Bobbie. The cabinetry for this project was MidContinent in the Towne door style in Maple wood with a White paint finish. We finished the top with 3cm Ornamental Light granite. The blue accented shower tile is from Glazzio tiles and the name is Astronomer's Light. The wood-look tile that was used on the floors and shower walls was customer supplied locally in Tampa.

A Qmotion motorized shade built into a soffit hiding shades. Shades are wired with low voltage wires and are controlled through the home automation system. These shades are scheduled on an astronomic time clock. They come down automatically to prevent sun damage and help in heat reduction.

Beyond it, a bold burnt-orange ceiling and vertical black slat paneling frame a window nook -- the room's graphic, geometric palette named for the astronomer, one of eleven guest suites each a character study of a real physicist.

Our client is an amateur astronomer. Our suggestion to make this a focal point of the garden was very well received. We designed, created the template, coordinated the fabrication, and installed this landscape detail.
