Artsy + Airy Open Concept Living - Working with an open concept space can have its advantages...spaces often appear larger, lots of natural sunlight, great for entertaining. However, often times, the caviot is that you have to commit to a concept and keep it cohesive throughout, which can present some challenges when it comes to design. Collectively, the entry, dining, living and kitchen were all open to the centered stairwell that somewhat divided the spaces. Creating a color palette that could work throughout the main floor was simple once the window treatment fabric was discovered and locked down. Golds, purples and accent of turquoise in the chairs the homeowner already owned, creating an interesting color way the moment you entered through the front door. Infusing texture with the citron sea grass-grass cloth wall covering, consistent with the fireplace/TV combo, creating one focal point in each space is key to your survival with an open floor plan. This South Minneapolis 1922 Bungalow,was ready for an update bath. Staying true the original charm of the home, the homeowners were looking for elements with character. Handcrafted tiles from a past Mpls art fair designed by a local artist directed the design of the space. With such a small bath, a small wall hung sink was selected to create the image of more space and to show off the flooring. A new tub and Kohler plumbing fixtures were installed in oil rubbed bronze finish. Marble tile flooring was selected in a floweret pattern and was framed with a coordinating marble border. Ceramic mint green tiles designed to resemble handmade tiles were installed on the walls and shower and trimmed with an oil rubbed bronze finished end. Overall, the new bathroom blends in nicely with the Arts & Crafts home and decor and will be enjoyed by the family for many years to come. Photography: Lisa Brunnel

In this log cabin kitchen, we installed Medallion Gold Park Place Flat Panel Maple, White Chocolate with Mocha Highland cabinets on the perimeter and on the island is Maple, Amaretto accented with Saddle pulls and Cup pulls in oiled rubbed bronze. The countertop on the perimeter is Casella Granite with double round over edge, the island countertop is Cambria 3cm Brittanica Gold and the bar top is Eternia 3cm Lindfield. The backsplash is 1” x 12” polished brick mosaic in Empire Beige. An LED Monorail system with 8’ rail, 3 pendants, 4 direction heads was hung over the island with a coordinating pendant light over the sink. A Blanco apron front sink in Biscotti color with Moen Arbor pull down faucet and Moen sip beverage faucet in oiled rubbed bronze was installed.
