This 1,400 sq. ft. studio, built in 2018 for Grammy Award–winning drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Adam Box, was one of the earliest full-scale NILES design–build projects. After years of session and touring work, Adam had a clear vision for his own creative home—a space that combined comfort, vibe, and technical precision. Our team partnered closely with him through every phase of the design and build process to bring that vision to life. The studio features a full Control Room, a spacious Live Room, two amp isolation booths, and a large dedicated ISO booth engineered specifically for dry drum capture. Each room is fully wired for a complete live-tracking environment, enabling an entire band to plug in and record seamlessly. The Live Room is sonically open and collaborative, while the Control Room is fine-tuned for long stretches of creative focus and accurate monitoring. Aesthetic direction played a major role in this project. Natural stonework, warm wood details, and a comfortable, lived-in feel create a distinctive character throughout the space. Adam added many of his own finishing touches, giving the studio an unmistakable personal identity that reflects his style and musical approach. The result is a studio that delivers both atmosphere and performance—an inspiring hub for writing, tracking, mixing, and producing at the highest level.

This European kitchen has several different areas and functions. Each area has its own specific details but are tied together with distinctive farmhouse feel, created by combining medium wood and white cabinetry, different styles of cabinetry, mixed metals, warm, earth toned tile floors, blue granite countertops and a subtle blue and white backsplash. The hand-hammered copper counter on the peninsula ties in with the hammered copper farmhouse sink. The blue azul granite countertops have a deep layer of texture and beautifully play off the blue and white Italian tile backsplash and accent wall. The high gloss black hood was custom-made and has chrome banding. The French Lacanche stove has soft gold controls. This kitchen also has radiant heat under its earth toned limestone floors. A special feature of this kitchen is the wood burning stove. Part of the original 1904 house, we repainted it and set it on a platform. We made the platform a cohesive part of the space defining wall by using a herringbone pattern trim, fluted porcelain tile and crown moulding with roping. The office area’s built in desk and cabinets provide a convenient work and storage space. Topping the room off is a coffered ceiling. In this classic English Tudor home located in Penn Valley, PA, we renovated the kitchen, mudroom, deck, patio, and the exterior walkways and driveway. The European kitchen features high end finishes and appliances, and heated floors for year-round comfort! The outdoor areas are spacious and inviting. The open trellis over the hot tub provides just the right amount of shelter. These clients were referred to us by their architect, and we had a great time working with them to mix classic European styles in with contemporary, current spaces. This garden was designed to celebrate panoramic views of the San Gabriel mountains. Horizontal bands of slate tile from the interior of the mid-century home wrap around the house’s perimeter and extend to the rear pool area, inviting the family outdoors. With a pool framed by mature trees, a sunken seating area, fruit trees, and a modest lawn for a young family, the landscape provides a wide range of opportunities for play, entertaining and relaxation.

This Arcadia residence embraces modern outdoor living with clean geometry, lush privacy, and balanced simplicity. To do this, the surfaces featured are walnut floors, walnut grain matched cabinets, walnut banding and casework along with other wood accents such as live edge countertops, dining table and benches. To further play with an organic feel, thickened edge Michelangelo Quartzite Countertops are at home in the kitchen and baths. This home was created to entertain a large family while providing ample storage for toys and recreational vehicles. Between the two oversized garages, one with an upper game room, the generous riverbank laws, multiple patios, the outdoor kitchen pavilion, and the “river” bath, this home is both private and welcoming to family and friends…a true entertaining retreat.

Inspiration for a modern family room remodel in Salt Lake City

THEME There are two priorities in this room: Hockey (in this case, Washington Capitals hockey) and FUN. FOCUS The room is broken into two main sections (one for kids and one for adults); and divided by authentic hockey boards, complete with yellow kickplates and half-inch plexiglass. Like a true hockey arena, the room pays homage to star players with two fully autographed team jerseys preserved in cases, as well as team logos positioned throughout the room on custom-made pillows, accessories and the floor. The back half of the room is made just for kids. Swings, a dart board, a ball pit, a stage and a hidden playhouse under the stairs ensure fun for all. STORAGE A large storage unit at the rear of the room makes use of an odd-shaped nook, adds support and accommodates large shelves, toys and boxes. Storage space is cleverly placed near the ballpit, and will eventually transition into a full storage area once the pit is no longer needed. The back side of the hockey boards hold two small refrigerators (one for adults and one for kids), as well as the base for the audio system. GROWTH The front half of the room lasts as long as the family’s love for the team. The back half of the room grows with the children, and eventually will provide a useable, wide open space as well as storage. SAFETY A plexiglass wall separates the two main areas of the room, minimizing the noise created by kids playing and hockey fans cheering. It also protects the big screen TV from balls, pucks and other play objects that occasionally fly by. The ballpit door has a double safety lock to ensure supervised use.

The formal living space can be very versatile. We love the sophistication and playfulness of the space including our statement ottomans for additional seating. Contemporary landscape design offers a grand simplicity to this English traditional cottage in West University, Houston. Paving with clean lines and artificial turf replace what was a muddy, underutilized space. A concrete walk frames the children's play lawn and offers a path for bikes. Fig ivy will grow to cover the fence adding a green, textured backdrop to a shady dining area. Eclectic pottery brings a pop of color while bistro seating against a confederate jasmine vine offers a tranquil setting for morning coffee.

Early in the design process, we fell in love with an exotic Black Fusion quartzite slab with organic movement and subtle bands of color for the island. We used a 100-year-old beam with rough- hewn texture combined with the re-purposed pantry door to create the perfect blend of vintage + refinement for the easy livin’ style the clients enjoy. Ceiling lines were redefined to highlight the antique beam, finished out with custom iron strapping and hanging lanterns. Tired travertine was replaced with warm wood flooring. A rustic driftwood finish on the island cabinets and porcelain brick backsplash tile add to the subtle mix of textures at play in this refreshing renovation.

This beautiful master bathroom features a spacious wet room and double vanity with lots of storage. Wood-look hexagon tiles with a linear drain were used for the shower floor. The white subway tile and soaker tub contrast beautifully against the deep textural grays of the floor, and the glass accent band around the space helps tie the whole look together. The double vanity was done in a deep soft grey with white marble-look quartz countertop with a grey vein to accent the cabinetry. Dark framed mirrors play off the dark accents in the floor tile and the chrome hardware and plumbing fixtures help elevate the look.
