This is a master bath with subtle sophistication and understated elegance. The cabinets were custom designed by Tom, with straight, simple lines, and custom built by Draper DBS of walnut, with a deep, rich brown finish. The richness of the dark cabinetry juxtaposed with the elegance of the white carrara marble on the countertop, wall and floors contributes to the room's sophistication. Ample storage is found in the large vanity and an armoire style cabinet, designed to mimic a free-standing furniture piece, that is positioned behind the door. Architectural beams placed across the vaulted ceiling bring a sense of scale to the room and invite natural light in through the skylight.

This spacious bathroom was previously underutilized and featured outdated finishes, including pedestal sinks and minimal storage. The renovation focused on maximizing both function and style.
Custom Cabinetry replaced the pedestal sinks, offering ample storage and warmth with rich wood tones.
Quartz Countertops elevate the vanity area, pairing durability with timeless beauty.
The 12"x24" floor tiles were laid in a herringbone pattern, adding dynamic movement and a modern edge.
In the shower, a hexagon mosaic tile creates visual interest and slip resistance on the floor, while the 6"x24" wall tiles in a running bond pattern deliver clean lines and texture.
A sleek freestanding tub with a deck-mount filler provides a luxurious focal point for relaxation.
The vanity is framed with metal-framed mirrors, complemented by three elegant sconces that add warmth and layered lighting.
The result is a warm, inviting retreat that seamlessly blends classic finishes with contemporary design.

Cohesively updating and modernizing this home built in the 1990s were the goal in this remodel. Several elements throughout the house like the traditional golden oak original stair railing in the main entry were too colonial for the homeowner as their taste was trending more modern. The golden oak used on trim, fireplace mantle, and baseboards trapped this home in a time warp. The original Kitchen had cabinetry with a traditional door style, painted cabinets, and laminate countertops which also caused it to look dated. The clients expressed a desire to integrate more modern elements into their home in a cost effective way without having to rip everything down to the studs. Our design/build team proposed and executed many elegant cost effective design solutions that involved changing paint, cabinetry, finishes, and fixtures to achieve the desired modern feeling throughout the home.
The Kitchen was completely remodeled. The traditional cabinetry was replaced by new frameless Décor cabinets with slab doors and drawers in a beautiful exotic walnut veneer with horizontal graining and soft closing hardware. To enhance the existing structure functionally the built in desk space in the Kitchen was removed and replaced by pantry cabinetry creating improved storage and flow in the new kitchen. The new large Cherry island, also by Décor, was finished in a dark charcoal stain and topped with a solid surface Cambria quartz countertop in Kingston which features a modern mix of black, white and olive tones. For the perimeter countertops Cambria Oakhampton was selected for its complimentary sleek dark chocolate color. Innovative use of materials was demonstrated by cutting linear strips of a pre-sheeted horizontal grey glass mosaic tile, staggering it, and running it vertically instead of horizontally on the backsplash. White Kitchen appliances were traded out for a more contemporary stainless steel.
The small original fireplace with oak mantle and brass trim seemed out of scale on the immense 2 story Living Room wall it inhabited. Superior craftsmanship was demonstrated by removing the original fireplace surround and replacing with a new larger fireplace surround which was tiled with a 6” x 20” warm taupe stone in a running bond patterned tile installed in a minimal horizontal stack bond pattern. The brass trim on the original firebox was updated with heat resistant high temperature paint in a bronze color. Slabs of Indiana Limestone were installed at the hearth and atop the firebox to create interest and texture. New Décor charcoal stained cabinets for media storage and large floating shelves were integrated into the new fireplace surround design creating an interesting asymmetrical scale appropriate hearth and TV area for the room. New modern satin nickel ceiling fan, bronze wall sconces, and grey textured carpeting were selected for the Living Room to compliment the new tile and woodwork of the fireplace surround.

The luxury Italian designer Sabi is a new set of coffee tables available in three versions (round, oval and small). Their frames are in matt bronze with a finish in relief and their geometric shapes remind one of the concept of the Italian Sabi, typical of the Japanese culture to identify opposites. Notwithstanding its simple frame, this high-end Contemporary collection offers a wealth of rationality and minimalism. It is available in various finishes: in black stained oak or in marble (black Marquina, dark Emperador and white Carrara).

This visually simple, modern solution is unique within its suburban context, and gives this family the custom landscape of their dreams. The homeowners’ wish list included a modern design and clearly defined spaces: a larger dining patio, firepit patio, hot tub, and a 4-season sport court (which gets flooded for ice hockey in the winter).
Circulation and screening were key in Ground One’s landscape design. A sport court could overwhelm the entire backyard, so it was raised three feet above the primary backyard to physically separate different spaces, and minimize its visual impact. Rectangular bluestone in a running bond pattern was used in all the gathering spaces (dining, firepit, hot tub). Bluestone walls reinforce a simple material palette.
A larger dining patio was installed near the house for greater entertaining flexibility. Plank paver paths connect to a private hot tub area and allow kids to don hockey gear and enter the sport court without messing up the house. The firepit patio is at the back of the property, nestled into the existing hillside under a large oak and below the sport court terrace.
Plantings reinforce the geometry of each gathering space, provide focal points, and create layers of screening and separation from any given vantage point. Hardy species were selected for their low-maintenance requirements and various seasons of interest. Landscape lighting was incorporated to provide way finding between the patios, accent various hardscape elements, and highlight the trees.
