A wine glass rack and shelves provides optimal storage for a full collection of glassware while a power supply in the back helps power coffee & espresso (machines, blenders, grinders and other small appliances that could be used for daily beverage creations. This beautiful custom home built by Bowlin Built and designed by Boxwood Avenue in the Reno Tahoe area features creamy walls painted with Benjamin Moore's Swiss Coffee and white oak custom cabinetry. With beautiful granite and marble countertops and handmade backsplash. The dark stained island creates a two-toned kitchen with lovely European oak wood flooring and a large double oven range with a custom hood above!

Our client said of her new kitchen, "It transforms the way our family lives." Her children used to spend their time in the basement rec room where she rarely saw them, but now, with the island in the expanded kitchen, she has more together time with them and is thrilled. Custom built light oak cabinets, Jerusalem gold limestone subway tile backsplash, a honeycomb of honey onyx marble tiles behind the range hood, and jupiter crystal granite countertops create a warm visual language that evokes the homeowners' favorite travels. Counter-height red leather and mahogany bar stools surround a glass top pedestal table which integrates with the kitchen's custom center island. For this project, WKD was asked to design a new kitchen in a Boston suburb with custom kitchen cabinets along with new cabinets in the adjacent family room, creating more of a kitchen lounge. They were also asked to find space for a much needed walk-in pantry, reconfigure a home office and create a mudroom. By moving walls and reorienting doors, spaces were reconfigured to provide more storage and a more welcoming atmosphere. This existing client reached out to MMI Design for help shortly after the flood waters of Harvey subsided. Her home was ravaged by 5 feet of water throughout the first floor. What had been this client's long-term dream renovation became a reality, turning the nightmare of Harvey's wrath into one of the loveliest homes designed to date by MMI. We led the team to transform this home into a showplace. Our work included a complete redesign of her kitchen and family room, master bathroom, two powders, butler's pantry, and a large living room. MMI designed all millwork and cabinetry, adjusted the floor plans in various rooms, and assisted the client with all material specifications and furnishings selections. Returning these clients to their beautiful '"new" home is one of MMI's proudest moments!

Tthe space was opened up to provide generous amounts of light, and wall-to-wall windows and doors were added to create one great dining experience and to allow the outside beauty to come inside. Eyes are immediately drawn to the expansive kitchen island. The custom island was painted a vintage grey with red undertones and distressed to create the perfect look. Throughout the kitchen the custom cabinets and drawers, made by Trademark Wood Products, were painted a soft, warm white. The ends of the island were custom set at the exact height for our homeowner who enjoys baking. The decision to keep the granite honed countertops lighter on the perimeter was made in order to keep the island as a bold statement. Along the outer custom wall of cabinetry incorporated a stylish and functional prep kitchen allowed our homeowners, who also love to entertain, a more useful and expansive space. After doubling the size of our homeowner’s preceding kitchen and adding custom features, baking, entertaining, or a casual night will never be the same as they overlook the backyard views of Minnehaha Creek.
