Dating from the late 1700’s -1800’s this Qing dynasty cabinet retains much of it’s original black/brown lacquer paint on the front side, which has a wonderful patina and shows it’s age, though it is very sound and intact. The painting on the doors features scenes of landscapes and people, which have been a favourite theme of Chinese artists for centuries. Due to the age of the cabinet much of the original painting has faded over time, which gives this cabinet such a wonderful character. In western interior design this theatrical cabinet can be displayed in a living room or bedroom for a dramatic effect.
