Living Room An example of money well spent, we hired a handy-man to glue rolls of cork to the wall and framed it with a stock wood molding. Approximately 9' long x 7' high, it is clearly not off the rack. The custom look of the board enhances the inexpensive IKEA tables below it, just as the vintage Chinese Deco chair adds luster to the West Elm cocktail table, its all in the mix.

This custom home is derived from Chinese symbolism. The color red symbolizes luck, happiness and joy in the Chinese culture. The number 8 is the most prosperous number in Chinese culture. A custom 8 branch tree is showcased on an island in the pool and a red wall serves as the background for this piece of art. The home was designed in a L-shape to take advantage of the lake view from all areas of the home. The open floor plan features indoor/outdoor living with a generous lanai, three balconies and sliding glass walls that transform the home into a single indoor/outdoor space. Antiques were placed throughout the space for gentle curves of wood, creating a historic feel. Here a touch of modern green glass accents helped bring out the antique Chinese vases. Custom photography of natural Idaho scenes added balance in the long hallways of this mental health clinic.

The Late Qing Dynasty antique Chinese wedding bed in red lacquered pine dates to around 1900 and it is very ornamental and ornate. We imported this exquisite antique Chinese wedding bed to the USA in 2012…. it had previously inhabited a home schedule for demolition so it was wonderful to have the chance to give the Chinese wedding bed a new life! It was finally purchased by our customer in Greenville, SC, so it has landed in a place very different to its origins in the Zhejiang Province in Eastern China! Antique Chinese wedding beds like this were once used by royalty, and were often called “Eight Step Beds.” It is divided into two areas, one for sleeping and the other for placing shoes and personal items as you get ready for bed.
