We were contacted by a client from Formby asking for advice on how to remove a thick layer of floor leveller from her Quarry tiled floor. I suspect at some point in the past a previous owner had decided to cover the tiles with lino and a cement-based levelling compound was applied to level the floor first. My client had tried to remove it herself but found it very hard going and after realising she had quite a project on her hands decided to call us instead and see if we could help with the restoration. I worked out a quote for the client which would include removing the self-levelling compound, cleaning up the tiles and then sealing them to improve its appearance and protect it going forward. The quote was accepted, and a date agreed for the restoration to be completed which would take two days. We have a variety of tools that we can use for removing cement but in this case, I decided to use an air operated pin gun. The head of the gun has long pins of different length which are fired at the floor gently chipping away at the floor compound, this made short work of breaking up the cement so it could be swept away. A lot easier than the method the client had previously tried. With the floor clear of cement, it was given an acid wash with Tile Doctor Acid Gel scrubbed in with a buffing machine fitted with a black pad. The acidic formula cleans up the stone of old cement including fine particles of dust. Afterwards the gel was rinsed off the floor with water and extracted with a wet vacuum. We let the floor dry out overnight and returned the next morning to apply the sealer. For the best results, the stone needs to be dry so before sealing I always take several moisture readings with a damp meter to make sure. The results were good so the first of what would be three coats of sealer were applied to the floor. I used Tile Doctor Colour Grow for sealing, it is an impregnating sealer that works by occupying the pores in the store thereby protecting it from within, it also brings out the colour in the stone. Once done the floor looked great, the old self-levelling compound was gone and the rich colours in the tile had been restored. In fact is was only when finished did we realise these were in fact Baked Clay Quarry Tiles, minerals are added during manufacturing to give then colour, although 95% clay they are very tough like stone. The client was over the moon with the outcome, the floor had been restored to its’ former glory. For aftercare I recommended the use of Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner to keep the floor in good condition. It is pH neutral so will ensure the newly applied sealer is not compromised and the floor will continue to look good for a long while to come. Andrew Robb Merseyside Tile Doctor

Cabinet interiors were enhanced with deep pantry roll-out trays, a wastebasket pull-out, a spice drawer, and inserts for cutlery, knives, and utensils. This tailored storage approach supports both organization and ease of access. MSI’s Calacatta Elysio quartz was installed for a flush-mount cooktop. Countertops were extended into the window frame, above the stovetop, and beneath the floating shelves to add visual continuity and extra functionality. Matching quartz backsplash was installed from countertop to upper cabinets and along open areas under shelving. The sink area received a Blanco Diamond single basin in white, paired with a Delta Trinsic pull-down faucet and a Delta Contemporary beverage faucet, both in matte black. A matching air switch was included for the garbage disposal. They now enjoy a space that looks cleaner, functions better, and feels more inviting. Every detail from appliance panels to custom drawer inserts was selected to support a seamless and comfortable kitchen experience.

A built in wardrobe is a great way to add value to any space; especially in a woman’s dressing room. Open shelves and compartments along the ceiling and down the center remain open in order to showcase designer bags and family portraits, while - raised panel drawers and doors have been added to hide the rest giving the space a cleaner look.. The space we designed this for was already gorgeous with its crown molding- lined vaulted ceilings. Our designer made sure to pull in these decorative elements into the built-in; making this wardrobe feel like it always belonged in the space. Roman-Styled arches were cut into the toe-kicks; allowing floor vents to circulate air within the room.

The window becomes a focal point in the design. • The header of the original window was maintained, but we were able to extend the height for the new awning window. As a result, the new perimeter Zodiac quartz counter-top was installed into the bottom of the window opening for a full view to the owners’ side yard. • The new window made a huge visual impact in the new kitchen and allows tons of natural light to flow throughout. • A ceiling mounted textured glass light fixture over the sink was selected to mimic the glass counter-top. • The large format floor tile expands the space and is brighter and more cheerful. To complete the look and to brighten the cherry cabinets, the same floor tile was custom cut for the backsplash. • A hands free Moen faucet was installed for the new sink area, and a Blanco undermount sink. The metallic grey blends perfectly with the Zodiaq quartz counter-top. The air switch for the garbage disposal was installed in the counter.

: This kitchen required a major remodel. The existing space was as unattractive as it was nonfunctional. Old non-working appliances, a dead-end space with no flow to adjacent rooms, poor lighting, and a sewer line running through the middle of the cabinets. Instead of being a haven for this working couple and extended family, the space was a nightmare. The designer was retained to create spaces for family gatherings to enjoy cooking and baking, provide storage for daily needs as well as bulk good storage and allow the kitchen to be the center piece of the home with improved access and flow throughout. Additions to the Wishlist were a mud room, laundry (not in the garage) and a place for the cats. A small addition created enough room to accommodate an island/peninsula layout suitable for baking and casual eating, a large range, generous storage both below and above the countertop. A full-size microwave convection oven built into the island provides additional baking capacity. Dish storage is in a customized drawer to make access easier for the petite client. A large framed pantry for food and essentials is located next to the island/peninsula. The old closet which contained the water meter and shut off valves now provides storage for brooms, vacuum cleaners, cleaning supplies and bulk goods. The ceiling heights in the entire home were low so in the addition a vaulted ceiling aligning with adjacent sunroom visually opened the room. This reimagined room is now the heart of the home.
