Aeonium decorum 'Sunburst' is one of the loveliest
succulents with pale green and yellow tones. Low water needs, fast draining soil and can take light frost.

Agave attenuata 'Variegata' is a stunning soft succulent with bright green foliage and lighter green stripes. It has no spines, safe around children and pets and can take very, very light frost. Shown with Agave 'Blue Glow' another beautiful succulents with blue-gray foliage I love combining them together in the plant arrangements I design. Also shown is Cuphea vermillionaire. A great shrub that blooms non-stop and is a hummingbird magnet too. All low care, low water and look good throughout the seasons in mild climates. This plant is in my personal garden in Northern California.

A colorful, drought-tolerant plant combination with year-round appeal. This bed includes Stachys - Lamb's Ears, known as Big Ears, Cerastium - Snow in Summer, Penstemon heterophyllus, Lavender, Coleonema - Breath of Heaven, Phormium - New Zealand flax. Positioned along a flagstone and decomposed granite pathway in San Anselmo CA.

The Fieldstone Cottage is the culmination of collaboration between DM+A and our clients. Having a contractor as a client is a blessed thing. Here, some dreams come true. Here ideas and materials that couldn’t be incorporated in the much larger house were brought seamlessly together. The 640 square foot cottage stands only 25 feet from the bigger, more costly “Older Brother”, but stands alone in its own right. When our Clients commissioned DM+A for the project the direction was simple; make the cottage appear to be a companion to the main house, but be more frugal in the space and material used. The solution was to have one large living, working and sleeping area with a small, but elegant bathroom. The design imagery was about collision of materials and the form that emits from that collision. The furnishings and decorative lighting are the work of Caterina Spies-Reese of CSR Design. Caterpillar House is the first LEED Platinum home on the central California coast. Located in the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel Valley, the home is a modern reinterpretation of mid-century ranch style. JDG’s interiors echo the warm minimalism of the architecture and the hues of the natural surroundings.

Perched on wooded hilltop, this historical estate home was thoughtfully restored and expanded, addressing the modern needs of a large family and incorporating the unique style of its owners. The design is teeming with custom details including a porte cochère and fox head rain spouts, providing references to the historical narrative of the site’s long history.

This bath offers generous space without going overboard in square footage. The homeowner chose to go with a large double vanity and a nice shower with custom features and a shower seat and decided to forgo the typical big soaking tub. The vanity area shown in this photo has plenty of storage within the mirrored wall cabinets and the large drawers below. The mirrors were cased out with the matching woodwork and crown detail. The countertop is Crema Marfil slab marble with undermount Marzi sinks. The Kallista faucetry was chosen in chrome since it was an easier finish to maintain for years to come. Other metal details were done in the oil rubbed bronze to work with the theme through out the home. The floor tile is a 12 x 12 Bursa Beige Marble that is set on the diagonal. The backsplash to the vanity is the companion Bursa Beige mini running bond mosaic with a cap also in the Bursa Beige marble. Vaulted ceilings add to the dramatic feel of this bath. The bronze and crystal chandelier also adds to the dramatic glamour of the bath.
