The renovation of the kitchen and family spaces in this 1950's house in Needham, Massachusetts transformed the dark central core of the house into a light-filled kitchen with a physical connection to all of the living areas. Abundant windows and skylights in the dining area connect the exterior landscape to the interior spaces and the dark wood and light stone countertops compliment the mid 20th century modern furniture collection. This property was transformed from an 1870s YMCA summer camp into an eclectic family home, built to last for generations. Space was made for a growing family by excavating the slope beneath and raising the ceilings above. Every new detail was made to look vintage, retaining the core essence of the site, while state of the art whole house systems ensure that it functions like 21st century home. This home was featured on the cover of ELLE Décor Magazine in April 2016. G.P. This beautiful coastal kitchen features a Cambria quartz Oakmoor™ island with a waterfall edge. The design’s sandy waves contribute to the home’s inviting beachy feel and serve as a perfect focal point in this open-concept space. Other kitchen details include mint green cabinetry, blonde woods, matte black pendant lights, sculptural stools, and gold pulls. Design: Blackband Home & Design // Builder: SC Homes

More beautiful shadows and light. The feeling of this garden for me is calm but interesting. Grounded but airy. Please note the gradient spacing I used on the beam screens.

We wanted our client's bedroom to feel masculine and cozy, while enhancing the modern architecture of the space. We kept the space feeling clean and relaxing by keeping a neutral palette and adding just a few accents of bold color in the chair and bed pillow. The combination of natural woods and soft textures help make the space feel cozy and inviting, which balances nicely with the metal accents that keep it modern and fresh. Photos by Matthew Williams
