When our clients approached us and asked for a place to eat with family and friends each Sunday, we knew we needed to design a dining room that was special. The light hues of the custom cabinetry, brass hardware, and lighting give the space a regal feel. We love mixing many patterns, textures and shapes found in the custom chair pillows, hand-loomed rug, and wall coverings. Combining the warm and cool tones gave us the perfect platform to select dinnerware in both silver and gold. An eclectic design to welcome eclectic family conversation and shared memories with friends.

Rhythm nation. Multiple spaces sharing one visual living area that are cohesively designed create rhythm. This beautifully designed area doesn't miss a beat!

California modern rancher. Blend of warm and cool tones and material balance this space. Outdoor environment is low water use and drought resistant but still has greenery and inviting to hang out.
In the kitchen we removed the walls that made up the tiny closet of a kitchen that was in the corner under the skylight and was able to hide the ceiling height differences at the small desk area and oven cabinets and keep the skylight. The effect is a wide-open concept with the least amount of construction possible.
For the kitchen layout, we created a cozy zone for the chef to work in the corner without any cross traffic, seating area around the outside of the island keeps guest out of the work area but still close and part of the process. The warming drawer in the island positioned for proximity to the "buffet line" at the island when entertaining. On the dining end of the kitchen there is a coffee and wine bar. Coffee bar is hidden behind the metal roll up door, and the wine and liquor bar are to the left and both share the sink in the middle, making it a functional and useful space from the morning until the evening. I like to call this bar "Start and Stop" ha-ha. Even though this space is very open and airy, it has a ton of storage including underneath the seating area at the island and the little workstation, which is open and uncluttered, has lots of storage nestled in the wall and underneath the counter and hides any CPU and wires neatly.
In the master bath, we updated all the colors and finishes in a clean modern European style with large format porcelain tiles and repurposed a small useless closet (with a window in it) to a second vanity for extra counter space and linen storage. Plus, we added storage over the toilet in the water closet and an updated door and casing into the walk-in closet with frosted glass panels so that at night the light in the closet glowing in those panels can act as a night light. Find the right local pro for your project

This farmhouse style home was already lovely and inviting. We just added some finishing touches in the kitchen and expanded and enhanced the basement. In the kitchen we enlarged the center island so that it is now five-feet-wide. We rebuilt the sides, added the cross-back, “x”, design to each end and installed new fixtures. We also installed new counters and painted all the cabinetry. Already the center of the home’s everyday living and entertaining, there’s now even more space for gathering. We expanded the already finished basement to include a main room with kitchenet, a multi-purpose/guestroom with a murphy bed, full bathroom, and a home theatre. The COREtec vinyl flooring is waterproof and strong enough to take the beating of everyday use. In the main room, the ship lap walls and farmhouse lantern lighting coordinates beautifully with the vintage farmhouse tuxedo bathroom. Who needs to go out to the movies with a home theatre like this one? With tiered seating for six, featuring reclining chair on platforms, tray ceiling lighting and theatre sconces, this is the perfect spot for family movie night!

This breathtaking whole-home renovation is a masterclass in balancing raw, natural materials with refined coastal elegance. Reclaimed wood, fieldstone, linen, cane, and soft blue hues weave a cohesive story from the soaring great room all the way up to the nursery — creating a home that feels both grounded in the land and kissed by the sea.
Great Room
The emotional heart of the home is a spectacular great room anchored by a floor-to-ceiling fieldstone fireplace with a hand-hewn reclaimed wood beam mantel and a herringbone brick firebox. Flanking the fireplace are generous built-in white shelving units with linen-backed interiors, beautifully styled with blue-and-white chinoiserie, ceramic vessels, and coastal curiosities.
Overhead, a dramatic cathedral ceiling with exposed reclaimed wood trusses in a king-post configuration draws the eye upward and gives the space an almost barn-like grandeur — softened immediately by the warmth of crisp white walls and abundant natural light pouring in through a wall of French doors. Those doors open to a deck overlooking mature woodland, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
The furnishings strike a balance that feels lived-in and luxurious at once. Two generous cream linen sofas face each other across a soft blue-gray upholstered square ottoman, while a pair of cognac saddle-leather swivel chairs add warmth and contrast. A stone pedestal side table, a rattan tray, and an oversized abstract seascape canvas above the mantel complete a room that is effortlessly inviting.
Kitchen & Dining
The open-plan kitchen and dining space flows seamlessly from the great room, united by the same reclaimed beam ceiling and wide-plank light oak hardwood floors. The kitchen itself is a dream: custom white inset cabinetry with brushed nickel hardware surrounds a showstopping island with a pale blue-gray painted base and a warm natural butcher block top — a choice that brings organic texture and approachability to an otherwise polished space.
A handmade zellige-style light blue brick backsplash adds subtle artisanal character behind a professional-grade six-burner gas range framed by a tailored white custom range hood. Open glass shelves nearby display a curated collection of blue-and-white chinoiserie vases, adding personality and a collected feel. Clear glass-and-nickel pendant lanterns hang over the island, while a stunning crystal rod linear chandelier marks the dining area — a glamorous counterpoint to all the rustic texture in the room.
Cane-back counter stools and a matching set of cane dining chairs in white keep the palette light, fresh, and connected to the home's coastal character. A stone arch passageway between the kitchen and adjacent rooms adds architectural drama and reinforces the home's commitment to natural materiality.
Staircase & Entry
The staircase is a design moment in its own right. A classic woven runner in gray with a crisp navy border brings pattern and polish to the oak treads, while a built-in window seat with a navy cushion at the landing creates a charming reading nook. A nautical-inspired abstract canvas on the entry wall sets the tonal palette for the upper level.
Primary Bedroom
Upstairs, the primary bedroom is a soft, serene retreat wrapped in a soothing dusty blue — walls and ceiling painted the same tranquil tone for an enveloping, cocoon-like effect. A white linen platform bed with an upholstered headboard sits beneath a wide horizontal panoramic cloud painting in a warm wood frame, evoking an open sky. The nightstands — in a soft white with brass ring pulls — are paired with ribbed ceramic table lamps that echo the room's quiet coastal sensibility.
Blue-and-white gingham curtains on a brass rod, a soft white textured carpet, a cream leather recliner, and a slim brass reading floor lamp round out a room that feels simultaneously fresh and deeply restful. Blue embroidered bedding and a striped bolster pillow tie the whole palette together with gentle precision.
Nursery
A thoughtfully designed nursery shares the upper level's soft blue palette, with a classic white Jenny Lind spindle crib, a natural wood book rack, a wicker whale toy basket, and a gold circular mirror creating a space that is sweet without being saccharine. The same cloud painting above the bed and the soft blue walls create a dreamy, sky-like atmosphere perfectly suited for a young child.

For this kitchen remodeling project, the homeowner was looking to remove the angled corner walls and cabinets to help open up the kitchen. We started by tearing out the old cabinets and drywalling the ceiling and walls to remove the paneling. We then installed all new cabinets that extended to the ceiling. They went with a seamless shaker door in a custom silt color from the Kitchen Solvers Classic Collection line. To finish the new look, we installed a new quartz Calacatta Lucia countertop, a 3”x 12” Raku Silver backsplash and a new luxury vinyl plank floor. Now they have a stunning kitchen that they love to share with their friends and family.

Three generations have shared summers together at this very special place called Merry Hill. Recognizing their shifting needs and looking forward to future generations, the clients wanted to both drastically change their beloved family lake house and yet not change it at all. This new iteration of the cottage is nearly double the size of the original, transforming their summer home into a four-season getaway while evoking the character of the original house in a new and fresh way.
The main cottage, boathouse and sleeping cabin all have broad, shallow-pitched roofs with generous overhangs that derive their form from their mid-century predecessor. Expansive openings, wood interiors, operable clerestories, and local stone double-stacked fireplaces are all familiar to the clients but rendered in different scales. Designed for resiliency and sustainability, the new retreat employs an integrated generator, geothermal heating, solar arrays, and battery storage as well as incorporates passive strategies such as sun orientation, earth sheltering, and cross ventilation to keep the interior at an ideal temperature all year round. The resulting form, detailing, and material selections of this new build allows for the seamless continuity of memory-making for a sentimental family.

Set on 88th Street in Manhattan's Upper East Side, this four-bedroom residence was created by merging two separate condominium units into a single, cohesive luxury home. The result is a sprawling, artful space defined by confidence, color, and a deeply personal design vocabulary.
The project represents a full-service interior design engagement: spatial planning, material selection, furniture sourcing, artwork curation, and complete project coordination. Nearly every element was specified and placed by Mazen Designs, with furnishings sourced largely through Roche Bobois.
The home unfolds from a striking cross-shaped hallway anchored by a custom T-shaped rug that guides movement through the space. To one side, the primary bedroom suite. To the other, a flexible home office that doubles as a guest suite, and a tranquil secondary bedroom. Straight ahead, a streamlined kitchen opens to a formal dining area and beyond that, a dedicated media and Mah Jong room designed for relaxed gathering.
The palette balances jewel tones with crisp whites and greys. Bold in intention but disciplined in execution. A Maya Romanoff wall covering and curated artwork complete the layering of texture, light, and silhouette throughout. The clients arrived hesitant toward color. Through open dialogue and a shared trust in design as storytelling, they left with a home that reflects genuine courage and clarity.

Lake living at its finest. This custom built home situated on Hyco lake has a very open floor plan. The overall footprint of the house is not enormous but the space is very well designed to accentuate the views and nature. This living room face is the lake and is centered around a large stone fireplace open to the kitchen.
This view is from the loft… Looking down on the first floor.
Design items of note

- oversized sectional in performance fabric
- custom printed paint swiped fabric for drapery panels

Founders of a high-tech, program trading firm required a space designed to attract and retain highly talented tech professionals. The design needed to reflect a company culture that is defined through leveraging technology and a work hard, play hard mentality. Confident in their ability to accomplish more with less, the firm acquires a West Loop residential loft-conversion to meet their needs. They required shared executive offices, a cross functional living/meeting space, an entertainment space and a guest bathroom.
