The structured wiring panel. All telephone lines (white Category 5e), network lines (blue Category 5e), and Television lines (RG6/Quad-Shield Coaxial cable) from the home terminate here. Telephone service on selective lines is patched in via a telephone distribution board (flat, silver cables). Network connections are handled on the adjacent patch panel. Incoming television signal (orange coaxial cable) is amplified and distributed to the home. The television amplifier supports an active return channel, allowing for cable modems or On-Demand programming and communucation from cable television set-top boxes. If the customer elects to subscribe to cable, satellite, or other provided-content TV, they can change the feed from HD antenna to Cable Television service at the interior grounding block located near this panel. Largely designed by the homeowners, with adjustments by me for functionality and appearance, this home office built-in features a large hidden storage capacity with 18" deep doored upper cabinets. It also has a visible pencil drawer in the desk section, and four pullouts in the base units that are all custom sized for specific purposes, and include a letter-size file drawer. There are even doors covering a 3" deep space underneath the desk area to cover up the electrical and data cables. Existing crown molding is run across the top to tie it in visually with the room. There is vertical "fluted" trim, but without the flutes.

This storage headboard features a hidden pullout shelf that makes it perfect for tight spaces that won't accommodate night stands. The central portion of the headboard lifts up to store bedding and seasonal items. Made of solid walnut and featuring strong and beautiful dovetail corners, this piece both beautiful and functional. A telecom rack handles gigabit network patching to the home (the customer opted to make their own patch cables instead of using provided cables and the cable management module). Network witching is provided via a 16-port Cisco gigabit Ethernet switch. Telephone and Television patching are handled inside the white structured media panel at right. The home office has a wall of built-in cabinets to conceal the requisite printer and office supplies. The desk was custom designed to accommodate power and data wiring up one leg maintaining the clean tailored look of this high tech office.
