High-quality turnkey bathroom renovation is a guarantee of comfort for apartment owners. This room requires a special approach, since a huge number of engineering communications are concentrated in a limited space, and humidity and active vaporization impose increased requirements on finishing materials.

From dark and dreary to light and bright! ? These clients loved the custom home that they built almost a decade ago but were growing tired of their interior and wanted to make a change. Their vision was to lighten, brighten and modernize the finishes and designs in the home they had originally built, so they turned to the OakWood Team for expert advice. There are a lot of things we love about this updated kitchen design, but one of our favourite details has to be the island countertop which features a combination of quartz and a custom end grain black walnut butcherblock. End-grain construction is made from small rectangular blocks arranged so that the ends (with growth rings showing) are visible on the surface. The strongest and most expensive type of butcher block, it’s great for surfaces dedicated to cutting, because it camouflages knife marks and is gentle on blade edges (they slide into the grain rather than against it). Another goal for this space was to create a more open concept plan. There are no barriers between the eating area, kitchen, and living room, allowing for better communication, ease of movement, and increased lighting. This idea of transparency is also seen in the open shelving and the glass cabinetry uppers. Although very subtle, these glass details help complement the look and feel of this space. The end result is a completely redesigned space that any homeowner would be proud of.

We added wainscoting in the dining room and entry stair hallway to enhance the old-world look and added some arched openings to match other areas of the home. We also added custom moldings to the fireplace wall to allow it to shine as a focal point in the space, utilizing restored antique light fixtures. The finished result is stunning and truly honors the integrity of the original time period of this home.

Opposite the kitchen, a family entertainment space features a cast concrete wall. Within the wall niches, there is space for firewood, the fireplace and a centrally located flat screen television. The home is designed by Pierre Hoppenot of Studio PHH Architects.

This master bathroom was once shouting with coral wallpaper, harsh gold accents and an over sized, unused tub. Our client wanted to escape to their master bathroom and feel as if they were in a spa atmosphere. We were able to show our client’s 3D concept renderings to communicate our overall master bathroom design. Using a marble curved basket weave mosaic tile on the floor with a black granite outline and Carrara baseboard, this stunning design began to take place. We selected a solid white, gloss tile for the shower walls so that our tile accent would be the shower focal point. The shower features a curbless entry, linear drain and seamless glass design for the most luxurious shower experience. Since our client had two beautiful chandeliers from her late mother’s home, we incorporated the fixtures into the lighting plan for a touch of sentimental glam. Custom designed vanity cabinets along with a vessel sink and waterfall edge countertop provided a useful yet beautiful accent to this bathroom. Stunning black sconces offer a softer lighting option that is incorporated with new can lights overhead. The finishing touch on this beautiful master bathroom is the custom designed valances above the windows that offer a sleek black accent with a subtle floral print. There were height restrictions and conservation authorities had to approve everything first, as well as obtaining the permits and building the structure without going to the committee of adjustment. It was a very enjoyable project as our clients made a few great changes along the way and we communicated well. The pool and landscaping were executed by Elite Crete Pools.
