This stunning Art Deco Kitchen was a labor of love and vision for our creative homeowners who were ready to update their kitchen of 30+ years. By removing the peninsula island and creating space for a seated banquette, we were able to custom design and a curved mahogany island and curved bench to offset the straight dramatic dark lines of the main kitchen. With gold metallic tile and the new Litze Faucet in split finish of gold and black, we think drama in the kitchen looks fabulous indeed!

Carrara Marble Vanity Top with Miter Edge Detail. Full Slab Carrara Marble Shower Walls and Custom Floors in Diamond Carrara and Squares in Absolute Black Granite

French country styling is expressed here with the rustic plaster hood, muted colors and mullioned glass doors. The bountiful harvest mural and deco tiles (hand-painted in France with a crackle glaze!) are the epitome of country -- further accented by the faux window painting and yellow flower garland. (The faux window is hiding an oddly placed electronic controls.)

Tradition meets today in this pared-down classic. The enduring charm of inset cabinetry is combined with double-door wall cabinets, a graceful ogee profile, and recessed panel doors to recall vintage style. The color scheme establishes the light / dark theme: white perimeter cabinets support honed “Jet Mist” granite tops, while the black paneled island features 2” thick marble-like quartz. Antique bin pulls are reinterpreted here with an updated square silhouette and repeat the brass accents on the knobs and island pendant trims. Continuing the nostalgia is the timeless apron-front “farmhouse” sink. Handmade subway tiles yield understated depth to the backsplash. Holding the place of honor over the range is a mosaic of stylized houndstooth echoing the neutral palette. That pattern is playfully reiterated in the pillows on the paneled banquette. Contemporary touches are found in the cheerful red cushion, double tripod table base, and the simple brass-lined dome pendant. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dramatic black wet bar whose Gothic mullion doors reflect the curve of the demilune base cabinet. The focal point is another mosaic backsplash, here with a diamond motif. Mixed metals make a statement with a satin nickel faucet, hammered nickel bar sink, and brass decorative hardware. This project was designed by Bilotta Designer Paula Greer in collaboration with Maria LoIacono Interiors. Written by Paulette Gambacorta adapted for Houzz.

This is an authentic art deco dressing room door salvaged from the old Frederick and Nelson building in downtown Seattle. This door is one of two, a slice of old deco glamour, and an integral part of our new master bedroom design. We used Modern Masters ME200-06 for an accent wall/backdrop for these priceless objects. A delightful bath, fitting for the rugged mountains of western Montana. Earth tones enlivened with greens, slates, and blues recall the local streams and rivers. Copper, hand hammered and free in form suggest an individuality that is central to mountain culture. Construction by Continental Construction. Photography by Kim Sargent Photography.
