The 'Multi-Comfort Home' Energy Demonstration Structure, located at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, utilizes industry-leading construction techniques and an innovative strategy for energy generation, management and coordination within the host microgrid. The Apollo II photovoltaic roofing system, as well as fiberglass and spray foam insulation, foundation drainage and waterproofing systems, insulated vinyl siding and gypsum board, were provided by CertainTeed Corporation. Spearheaded by Penn State with support from the U.S. Department of Energy, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), the GridSTAR Net Zero Energy Demonstration Structure is the first phase of the GridSTAR Center and will serve as a valuable hub for workforce training, building performance testing, energy management research and “smart” microgrid modernization deployments. I drew (3) separate tile designs for the shower and this was the winner. It closely resembles the color shifting of the foyer blown glass chandelier chandelier. The shower wand bar is oversize so the shower can be used with small children to tall adults. these cast iron tubs are 5'-6" long which a 6" longer than standard. Shampoo and soap niche is incorporated into all shower in this home.

Drought tolerant plants surround open space with lawn. Lawn was seeded with Water Star qualified grass seed to reduce water demand of lawn and further water reductions were achieved by using an underground drip irrigation to minimize evaporation and target water delivery to roots.
