Warm farmhouse kitchen nestled in the suburbs has a welcoming feel, with soft repose gray cabinets, two islands for prepping and entertaining and warm wood contrasts.

Here the existing ceilings were lifted three feet with new windows on this side of the house opening the space up to views in all directions. In a gated community without any adjacent neighbors, complete privacy is maintained.

A concrete column was exposed to anchor the entry into the apartment which features a direct line of sight to Lake Michigan. Changes in the orientation of the oak plank floors help to distinguish the entry from a pair of adjacent hallways.

Foxtail Palms frame out this transitional style pool whose shape is a direct result of extending lines of the house into the space and intersecting them at key points. The large brimming spa sits directly adjacent to a covered seating area.

This ‘art house’ accommodates a growing art collection and an informal work space for an adjacent residence. A perforated corrugated zinc scrim at the second level creates a dappled effect, softening direct daylight. The first level is clad in low maintenance cementitious panels. Large sliding glass doors disappear into wall pockets dissolving the edge between the exterior yard and interior spaces.

A new pool house structure for a young family, featuring a space for family gatherings and entertaining. The highlight of the structure is the featured 2 sliding glass walls, which opens the structure directly to the adjacent pool deck. The space also features a fireplace, indoor kitchen, and bar seating with additional flip-up windows.

When we started this project, opening up the kitchen to the surrounding space was not an option. Instead, the 10-foot ceilings gave us an opportunity to create a glamorous room with all of the amenities of an open floor plan.
The beautiful sunny breakfast nook and adjacent formal dining offer plenty of seats for family and guests in this modern home. Our clients, none the less, love to sit at their new island for breakfast, keeping each other company while cooking, reading a new recipe or simply taking a well-deserved coffee break. The gorgeous custom cabinetry is a combination of horizontal grain walnut base and tall cabinets with glossy white upper cabinets that create an open feeling all the way up the walls. Caesarstone countertops and backsplash join together for a nearly seamless transition. The Subzero and Thermador appliances match the quality of the home and the cooks themselves! Finally, the heated natural limestone floors keep this room welcoming all year long. Alicia Gbur Photography
