This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

In this kitchen, the client wanted to lighten everything up, so we painted the perimeter cabinets white and the island a dark gray color. The black granite was removed from the island and the lower tops on the sink cabinet. We added a new farm sink and faucet and installed beautiful honed Macabus quartz on the island and sink cabinets. Beveled white subway tile was installed on the backsplash for a nice clean look. Two brushed gold lanterns were added over the island and a bead board ceiling was installed to add a farm house touch.

In this project, the goal was to create a very cozy atmosphere inspired by the feeling of a coffee house. The space was designed for a young client who loves music and is exploring a new chapter in his life, so it was important that his home reflected that identity and sense of comfort.
