The Daybreak Community in Salt Lake City was one of the communities where Duradek brought the ideal single-product solution. They were able to provide the roofing membrane (Duradek Ultra Heritage Agate) to complement the design while also serving as the pedestrian surface for the rooftop decks. This allowed an easy and natural solution for the flow of living space from the indoors to the outdoors. This dynamic community from this Utah builder was a winner in the 2016 Salt Lake City Parade of Homes. The homes that were first sold were the ones that included rooftop decks. These roof decks showcased the brilliant designs and quality building practices that put the needs of the homeowner first.

Forward-thinking developers in Utah realized outdoor living space was an in-demand residential feature, but it was also a way to increase the usable square footage of a home. To take full advantage of the potential of this insight, their talented designers had the vision to incorporate roof decks into their residential designs. To accomplish that, it was very important to use products that met building code requirements. Further, it was critical to use skilled installers. Since Duradek fulfilled both of those criteria, a relationship with Duradek of Utah developed. Duradek of Utah could demonstrate that Duradek membranes meet building code as both a classified roofing membrane and a traffic coating. Further, Duradek is applied only by company trained installers who are skilled in waterproofing techniques specific to roof deck waterproofing.

A combination of Durarail railing options was used for the guardrails. Standard black picket railing on the pony walls on the covered portion of the deck allowed them to meet the guardrail height requirement where they desired more privacy. Topless Glass Railing around the open portion of the deck with the PUP post system was added to complete deck and complement the gorgeous view that inspired it. The home owners chose Durarail’s powder coated railings for its durable low maintenance advantages (will not chip or rust), and for the unobstructed views of the Atlanta skyline.
