"Swaddled" (Left) - A simple statement of protection and peace, "Swaddled" is a picture of contrast and balance. Just as a newborn is snuggly wrapped for its own comfort during the early days of stark, new reality--"Swaddled" can signal safety and rest during grown up times of change and challenge. A focal point for stability, this painting bears the long lasting message that present circumstances are always temporary and that we should never stop allowing ourselves to be swaddled. 48"x72", Acrylic on Canvas with Fabric Trim.
"Relativity" (Right, three pieces) The law of conservation of momentum can be derived from Newton's second law of motion (force equals mass times acceleration, or F=ma). This concept was the inspiration for Relativity. Simple and clean in its design, yet portraying the concept of action and reaction...this piece is calming, yet inspiring. An ultra-modern new build was the original inspiration for this design. It's fun to be given an opportunity to paint pictures for a brand new home that is like a gallery. I wanted to honor the theme of a mid-century revival home in the designs I made. A king size bed in a spacious master bedroom allowed for art that was dramatic and inspirational. I ended up making three pieces of the same design. One piece can stand alone, or multiples can be grouped together to cover a large area and create impact. 24"x48" each (3), Acrylic on Canvas with Fabric Trim.

Designed for a young artist with a love of art, books and the colour blue, this bedroom was thoughtfully transformed into a sophisticated and inspiring space—one she can continue to grow into for years to come.
The design balances elegance and function through custom floor-to-ceiling millwork in a soft natural wood finish, paired with calming blue accents that express her personality in a refined and timeless way. Because creativity is such an important part of her daily life, maximizing organization and usable workspace was essential.
A large custom desk extends into the room to create an expansive work surface for art projects, studying and collaborating with friends. A thoughtful combination of deep and shallow cabinetry, generously sized drawers and open shelving keeps supplies organized and accessible while providing space to display meaningful objects and evolving inspiration.
Frosted-glass cabinet doors softly conceal books, art materials and treasured collections, minimizing visual clutter while also helping to protect the contents from dust. The result is a serene, polished and highly functional space that retains the warmth and personality of a young artist’s retreat.
Soft textures, layered lighting and carefully curated details complete the room, creating an inviting atmosphere that supports creativity, focus and comfort in equal measure.

This 1100 sf 1950's Crestview home was taken down to the studs, rebuilt, and reorganized for a better flow. Another 500 sf of new indoor and outdoor living spaces and a primary suite were added.
The design process revealed a desire to preserve and highlight the spirit of the original 1950s Texas home. In doing so, the home also aided in protecting the now dwindling authentic character of neighborhood. The street front aesthetic of the home remains almost as it was, just refreshed with some new finishes, colors, and some added windows. The front porch, including those charming columns were kept, the front wainscot was rebuilt, the original front door was repurposed as a barn door to the laundry room, and the back patio pavers were integrated into the new rear patio.
The interior design selections paid further homage to original abode. An array of period finishes and fixtures are seen throughout, as well as flares of Texas heritage. The original wood floors remain, and the home owner even rebuilt a couple of vintage Hunter fans to use in the space.
Color was equally important in the design. On the interior, a rich palette of blues, greens, and rust tones catch the eye amidst a background of vintage white. The exterior color was brought to the table early on in the process. More of a salmon tone, the color choice was inspired by the beautiful colors used in New Orleans architecture. The color made its home in Texas though, in a new way. It is what we like to call a burnt Texas pink.

Function meets form in the Delta House, which incorporates innovative building solutions for our challenging rural Canadian climate. Perhaps more akin to aeronautics than architecture, biomimetic processes drove the problem-solving approach while seeking multiple functions for each component. A typical Canadian home grows up and out of the site, exposing more of the facade to the elements. Instead of building up, the focus here was to make better use of the lower level. A section of the house was dug out on the south side, making room for three main glazed boxes. The spaces and bedrooms of a typical second floor were transferred to the more protected basement, thus lowering the volume of conditioned air within the dwelling.
To minimize energy losses through the glazing, ATA centralized the windows on the south side of the building, while minimizing the glazing on other facades. The centralized windows became the “three sisters” allowing the winter sun into the main floor and lower level of the house. The aerodynamic delta shape of the building was tested in a wind tunnel and was designed to minimize energy loss due to contact with the turbulent winter wind. The sisters are tilted 10 degrees towards the sun, leveraging the properties of glass as a reflector, when the sun is at a high angle of incidence in the summer.
The house also contains an innovative thermal mass battery in the basement slab and a connected radiative masonry fireplace. Excess heat, gathered at the top of the tent-like roof is directed down and reheated through the chimney before being drawn into the basement slab for storage. Openings in the floor areas ensure the energy is equally distributed throughout the dwelling.

Not all shade is created equal and not all pergolas are truly built to last. The R-Blade™ by Azenco is a fully motorized louvered roof system designed with precision engineering, clean lines, and powerful versatility. This is not just a cover, it’s a climate-controlling centerpiece that elevates your entire outdoor lifestyle.
Each louver in the R-Blade™ rotates silently to follow the sun or close completely to protect against rain. But here’s the real brilliance: the louvers interlock with seamless drainage built into the structure, allowing water to flow away discreetly, with no exposed gutters or leaks. No sagging canvas. No rusted joints. Just smart design.
Made from powder-coated, aircraft-grade aluminum, the R-Blade™ delivers unmatched durability against heat, salt, and weather perfect for coastal homes and modern estates alike. It can also be paired with fans, lighting, motorized screens, or even solar integration, all while maintaining a minimalist, architectural look.
Compared to cheaper imitation systems or retractable covers that fail over time, this system is built to perform. Whether you're in full sun or an afternoon downpour, you stay in control with comfort and style.
Create the perfect balance of shade, airflow, and structure.

Modern Farmhouse is a contemporary take on a tradition building type, the Connecticut farmhouse. Our clients were interested in a house that fit in with the landscape while providing plenty of daylight with views to the surrounding property. The design uses simple gables arranged in a picturesque manner. It balances clean modern lines, traditional forms, and rustic textures. The new house is bright and light while also feeling personal and unique.
There was interest early on to compress the construction time and to design a building that would not take a lot of energy to run. To achieve these goals, the design of the main house used modular construction and a high performance envelope. To articulate the surfaces of the spaces, the owner assembled a group of designers and artisans. Natural textures and tones were layered over the volumes to give a sense of place and time. The modular units of the house are produced by Huntington Homes in East Montpelier, Vermont.
In addition to the main house, there is a pool house that sits symmetrically on the main axis of a long swimming pool. A glass enclosed living room fits between two concrete volumes that house a bathroom and storage spaces. An outdoor shower faces south, with an oculus that lets light in when the door is closed. The simple forms of the pool house sit below a green roof, which protects the glassy room from the summer sun and integrates the building into the hilly landscape.

INSPIRATION: local settlements in northern Iran formed by a simple adaptation of the nature, geography and climate of that region. The local architecture of this place is so intertwined with nature and in harmony with the climate that it can be called naturalistic architecture. We are looking to redefining the region's former architecture, which needs protection, into today's language.
Unique properties: Extroverted architecture is a solution that is necessary to respond to the hot and humid climate of the location of this project. But in Iranian culture, introverted architecture is unavoidable therefore, in this residential apartment where several families live together and also have common spaces, providing a response to introversion and extroversion at the same time has been considered.
Description: Extreme use of the porch refers to the deep structures of the Iranian Architecture The "primitive cottage", which is a favorite of the residents of this small town, when converted into a contemporary apartment, must include several basic spaces to implement the residential scenario. Private and semi-private balconies are the most important of those spaces. Extensive vista is the potential of this project. because in addition to the forest view from the south and the beach view on the north side, the other two sides of the project have a unique view due to their height from the city.
Therefore, the location and type of openings affect the quality of the space. Each space has a pleasant view, light and proper air circulation. Roofed and non-roofed yards equally divided at different levels. These independent courtyards in the vertical surfaces seen as a vertical and integrated garden in the urban context.
CHALENGE: The value that the project pursues is to answer: How contemporary architecture can be faithful to culture, nature and context? How architecture can affect the audience without showing off?
this challenge arose for us when we noticed that the surrounding new buildings had nothing to do with local architecture except for adhering to a form such as a sloping roof. Audience tastes have also gone in a direction that is not compatible with contextual factors. So having a few touches of culture and context can be a turning point in the contemporary architecture of this Small scale area.

It was very important to our client for the pool and patio area to feel like an extension of their home. To incorporate this request into their design we engineered the pool wall to support the new patio columns and roof. The selection of finish materials was critical to creating a seamless transition between their indoor and outdoor living environment. The amazing views and natural surroundings were the perfect backdrop for the staggering 46 of vanishing edge. The work area was very intimidating with a 2:1 slope which creates many unique challenges. Extreme care had to be taken to protect the homes located downhill from the work area while all of the construction materials were transported 300 up the steep incline. At times a human chain passed building materials hand-to-hand because the slope was too step to safely operate equipment. The pool, spa and vanishing edges are locked into the hillside with a combination of piers and a keyway footing. Our structural & geotechnical engineer tested the soils on site and made 5 visits to the jobsite during construction to ensure that all site conditions were addressed. The outdoor patio area was lowered 2 below the pool to preserve the view of the lake and add to the illusion of the pool flowing down to the water below. While working to create a structurally sound vanishing edge pool and spa on a 26 degree slope there were some difficult plumbing needs that had to be met. The home owner requested the swimming pool equipment be located close to the house to avoid being seen when they entertain guests. On most jobsites this is an easy request to provide but this was not a typical construction site. This project required a 4 deep vault to ensure efficient operation of the hydraulic system for the equipment which is located uphill from the pool. Another challenge for our plumbing crew was to have the remote spa with a vanishing edge utilize equalized plumbing with the pool. The vanishing edge of the pool and spa had to match perfectly despite being located 30 apart. The pool and spa both incorporate a Paramount PCC2000 cleaning system. This project is a testament to what can be accomplished by a team of dedicated engineers, designers, contractors and craftsmen. Team work and education are the keys to success.
