Well situated in Mont Royal, this split-level home had many positives apart from its dated interior, and layout of many small and inefficient rooms. This was all at odds with the owners’ lifestyle and aesthetic.
The client had architectural plans designed for a third floor addition that were to include a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The desired look for the entire house influenced all aspects of construction. Apart from the removal most walls on the main floor, everything was stripped back to the most simple and pure of finishing materials.
The existing floors were refinished in a smoked grey matte palette and offset the rich warm walnut accents in the kitchen and soft white walls.
With an abundance of white walls throughout, feature walls were essential in both the master bedroom and ensuite. The deep charcoal wall in the bedroom provides dramatic contrast to the teak headboard and hammered silver light fixture. The ensuite’s feature wall is made of pewter ceramic tiles that add texture and elegance to this simple space.
Materials and furnishings throughout were selected for their simplicity and form.

In the dining room, French out-swing patio doors are flanked by two casement windows. The matching grid patterns on both the windows and doors help maintain a cohesive look without appearing too busy. Together, the windows and doors immediately draw your eyes in with their dark, distinct look, but are complemented by the black accents and furnishings placed around the room.

This Jersey City, NJ space was the first permanent ‘home’ for the yoga studio, so it was essential for us to listen well and design a space to serve their needs for years to come. Through our design process, we helped to guide the owners through the fit-out of their new studio location that required minimal demolition and disruption to the existing space.
Together, we converted a space originally used as a preschool into a welcoming, spacious yoga studio for local yogis. We created one main yoga studio by combining four small classrooms into a single larger space with new walls, while all the other program spaces (including designated areas for holistic treatments, massage, and bodywork) were accommodated into pre-existing rooms.
Our team completed all demo, sheetrock, electrical, and painting aspects of the project. (The studio owners did some of the work themselves, and a different company installed the flooring and carpets.) The results speak for themselves: a peaceful, restorative space to facilitate health and healing for the studio’s community.

We call this dining room modern-farmhouse-chic! As the focal point of the room, the fireplace was the perfect space for an accent wall. We white-washed the fireplace’s brick and added a white surround and mantle and finished the wall with white shiplap. We also added the same shiplap as wainscoting to the other walls. A special feature of this room is the coffered ceiling. We recessed the chandelier directly into the beam for a clean, seamless look.
This farmhouse style home in West Chester is the epitome of warmth and welcoming. We transformed this house’s original dark interior into a light, bright sanctuary. From installing brand new red oak flooring throughout the first floor to adding horizontal shiplap to the ceiling in the family room, we really enjoyed working with the homeowners on every aspect of each room. A special feature is the coffered ceiling in the dining room. We recessed the chandelier directly into the beams, for a clean, seamless look. We maximized the space in the white and chrome galley kitchen by installing a lot of custom storage. The pops of blue throughout the first floor give these room a modern touch.

LOS ANGELES, CA / SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL
The Bel-Air House sits above Hollywood, along scenic Mulholland Drive, the storied thoroughfare that acts as a winding referee between the compact density of the San Fernando Valley, and the more ex-urban conditions of Los Angeles. In contrast to the client’s weekend beach house, here the client envisioned a home that could share equally in the energy of the city, and the rustic qualities of canyon living. The resulting home is both minimal and refined—its abstract forms read against the wilder aspects of its nominally natural setting.
As a patron of music, and the arts, the client’s creative interests suggested the overall design approach: A simple yet sophisticated backdrop for the presentation of recitals, and the display and appreciation of beautiful artifacts. The house avows a museum-like attitude—the rich but restrained material palette draws from the colors and textures of the Santa Monica Mountains, and opposes natural with refined, polished with honed, quietly confirming a reverential aspect to this “temple on the hill”.
The focus of the house is a dark and silent pool. Intended as a space of emptiness, the pool is an enigmatic statement—at once a source of origin for the house, as well as its apparent conclusion. The spatial aspects unfold from this moment, with the various rooms revolving around this essential void. The pool and its open rotunda echo the reservoir in the canyon below the house, while the ocean beyond ultimately underscores the house’s strong commitment to water.
Simple stone walls, taut rooflines, and disciplined and minimal detailing allow the home to act as an armature for the client’s personal expression of taste and creativity. In complement to the client’s Mussel Shoals House, which suggests a relationship with the vast, and ever-widening horizon, the architectural resolution of the Bel-Air House emerges from the sheltered and enveloping emotion of the canyon.

A neutral colour palette was the main aspect of the brief setting the tone for a sophisticated and elegant home.
The carpet was chosen, as it can be used of stairs as well, which ensured continuity between the lower and upper floor. It is as soft as velvet underfoot, perfect for their young son to sit on the floor and play.
Curtains and sheers play a significant role in enhancing the overall aesthetics of a room. They add color, pattern, texture, and visual interest to complement the existing décor. The curtains are essential in providing the finishing touch to the overall look and feel of this Family Room.

The Domaine de Dolomieu is an incredible project situated in the heart of the Rhône Alpes region of France. This colossal project of 1 500 m2 includes a luxurious hotel, 2 restaurants, a Lounge Bar and a Spa. We have meticulously redesigned the whole of the Château, inspired by the history of this extraordinary building and the famous geologist «Déodat Gratet» who lived there during the 18th century.
We designed many pieces of bespoke furniture for this project, made essentially from locally sourced walnut wood. Ostentatious lighting and beautiful fabrics have been used throughout to enhance the elegance and luxurious aspect of this unique building.

In the master bedroom, mid-century style harmonizes beautifully with modern elegance, highlighted by a smaller version of the Haas chandelier. Continuing the theme of brass and white glass, the sconces from the Quorum Lighting Belmont collection will be positioned above the end tables on either side of the bed. Layered lighting is equally essential in the master bedroom! These homeowners in Rochester, NY, will enjoy the versatility of having the chandelier, sconces, and recessed lighting all available for tasks that require ample illumination while still having the option to use just the chandelier and sconces for a cozy ambiance as they wind down in the evening. They can even leave the sconces on while reading before bed. Designing the ensuite is one of the most exciting aspects of building a custom home, allowing you to create the luxurious bedroom of your dreams.
