The Interior Design
The Sequoia is simple and understated luxury, topped off with modern farmhouse appeal. Designed with form, function and livability in mind, this amazing layout appeals to all. In a world that is ever-changing and hectic (social media, technology and increased demands), this home is designed to calm and sooth the soul once you step inside. Designer Grace Covington (GC Luxury Homes) brings eclectic farmhouse and modern design elements together to create a refined yet relaxed environment. The use of current colors, textiles, finishes and products blended with decor that reminds one of their favorite family memories, bring personality and warmth to this home. Meridian Ranch is a beautiful setting with amazing views of the mountains and Pikes Peak, so particular care was taken to select finishes and decor reminiscent of a peaceful country life. Muted tones of greige with surprising pops of color, creative use of woods, sleek lighting and bath fixtures, modern tile-work and the sprinkling of cottage textures throughout- this home is gorgeous! Tranquil luxury in a beautiful and vibrant community - the Sequoia is the perfect home!

Overlooking Little Sippiwisset marsh, this home combines both shingle style and traditional Victorian elements including a round "turret" in the second floor master bedroom. Upon entering the front door you are immediately greeted by a baby grand piano and the spectacular ever changing tidal marsh beyond. The walkout basement features a traditional wine cellar with seating area and outdoor spa to relax and enjoy the views.

In architecture, a folly is a design wherein aesthetic extravagance transcends function. In other words, they're a hoot.
Land+Shelter’s pond pavilion and swing elevates the humble swimming hole to new heights of design. With this graceful arched pond swing we offer visitors the chance to choose their own level of excitement. Choose your step, then jump!
In the pond pavilion, a simple steel frame and dark neutral curtains frame the landscape beyond as an ever changing painting. The compact pavilion plan combines a fireplace, water, and shade - all the essential elements of pond enjoyment in one sleek package. Swimming holes aren’t supposed to be elegant; we beg to differ!
This fun pavilion and swing project offered us the chance to combine landscape and architecture in a custom steel design package truly unique to this family estate.

This lakefront home is located on a small plateau in Forest Beach Estates, high above the lake and beach. The design of the home resulted from the Department of Environmental Qualities Critical Dunes Build-able area requirement. The resulting footprint created a flowing curved surface in plan and a curving perimeter that was covered by a curved roof. The views are spectacular from the three viewing levels of this home and allow the plan to provide multiple point panoramic vistas wherever you are in the spaces.
We designed this home to be like a land ship with its ports of call the four seasons. Immersed in the waves and the ever changing surrounding landscape of Forest Beach, the beauty and qualities of the outdoor life can quickly transform your view of life.

This airy living room was conceived around the homeowners love of art and nature. A palette derived from sea and sand, natural elements were brought in both literally and figuratively.
Warm wood and earthen accents are countered by sleek, modern accent chairs. The embroidered linen draperies draw the eye up and serve as a dramatic backdrop to the serene conversation area. Oversized mirrors transfer the ambient light throughout the room.
The centerpiece of the room is a silk and copper aerial sculpture by artist Jan R. Carson (www.janrcarson.com) that is accented by a halogen spotlight. The lighting casts an ever-changing shadow, creating life and whimsy to the room. The homeowners have even been known to move the furniture back, spotlight the mobile, and use the room as a salsa dance floor!
A reclaimed hand-carved door was repurposed as a coffee table. Modern elements such as the lucite "Ghost" chair, the Gus rocker, and impressionist original oil painting balance out the rustic elements of the room.

A handy, empty-nester couple, nearing retirement, sold their mansion, and purchased a fixer-upper on a sunlit hillside that features the spectacular ocean view of the Channel Islands.
ENRarchitects was hired to assist with making minor enhancements to the plan, integrating the lower level parking court, and adding a patio deck. The owner, a retiring engineer, took on the responsibilities of general contracting during construction.
Our collaboration included opening the kitchen to the Living-Dining space, so all can enjoy the ocean view. A balcony was added to second floor Master Study, with a new laundry room below it. Both bathrooms were modestly enlarged to provide more spacious showers. Lastly, the Entry Foyer was opened to ceiling height into the Living Room.
In California, ocean views inherently include relentless west sunshine, and formidable interior heat gain. Multiple design studies explored various means to incorporate shading and solar screening measures to permit the view, and to reduce heat gain. Additional studies featured more substantial proposed additions, including a lower level guest suite, and a detached office.
A key feature, is the addition of a raised, covered entry porch, where passengers and goods can be offloaded, prior to parking on the lower level. The new porch also provides a secondary transition around the structure to the ocean view, split-level patio.
A 2nd phase included the suggestion of rebuilding the lower covered parking to include a roof deck, rooftop guest suite, and solar electricity, which was successfully completed. The property is now mildly reminiscent of the Sea Ranch community.
With the blessing of year-round comfortable weather, and ever-changing, dynamic views, the successfully remodeled home takes full advantage for a new generation of colorful living. (photo by owner)

Designed by Jeff Rizzi of Reico Kitchen & Bath in King of Prussia, PA in collaboration with Mariani Builders, this transitional style two-finish kitchen design features Merillat Classic in the Portrait door style with slab drawer front in Chiffon on the kitchen perimeter and Graphite on the kitchen island. The countertop (provided by others) is Calacatta Classique Q by MSI.
Said the client, "Jeff was very flexible and adapted to our ever-changing ideas. He offered several ideas for us and was so informative when it came to options for cabinets and finishes. We love the final outcome and know it would not have been possible without Jeff's vision. We would absolutely recommend Reico Kitchen & Bath to any of our friends and family."
Added Jeff, "It was a challenge to find the space to design the clients' dream kitchen. After removing two walls and merging three spaces the design came together, providing the space and function that they desired. It is great when we can help clients see what is possible."

Modern Tudor on the Prairie
Our clients fell in love with the wide-open spaces of the White Oaks Savanna development. They dreamed of a home that celebrated the beauty of Minnesota’s ever-changing landscape and blurred the line between indoor and outdoor. They wanted a home with a traditional exterior, impressive entry, and modern interiors.
The large site provides spectacular views of the restored prairie landscape. All four sides of this home are refined and architecturally resolved since each elevation is highly visible in the open prairie setting. Properly locating the home on the site was critical to maintaining the stunning prairie views. The home is nestled behind a hill instead of sitting on top of it, so it is blocked from the neighbors and respects their views.
Natural materials adorn the exterior, including cedar, stone, stucco, and copper, that act as “jewelry” for the home. The cedar and copper will patina with time, adding richness and texture to the home.
Front Door:
The custom front door is 4 feet wide by 8 feet tall. It is paired with a matching fixed panel, so the door appears to be 8 feet wide from the outside, and is painted a cheery bright blue to greet visitors. The intentional placement of color adds vibrancy throughout the home in contrast to the quiet exterior colors. The bold pops of color requested by the client continue on the interior of the home, including a turquoise dining room, magenta closet doors, and a deep blue basement.
Lantern Staircase:
A triple-height stair floating in front of 18-foot-high windows welcomes visitors. At night, a hidden, remote controlled retractable shade scrim (lightweight shade) limits light pollution to follow the Dark Skies Initiative.
Great Room:
Cased openings of white oak create transition spaces and frame views to and from the grand, two-story great room. The entry and dining room have cozy 8-foot ceilings and are perched 12” up from the great room for views over the living room furniture. To avoid dining chairs sliding over the steps, a custom built-in credenza sits on the steps behind the dining table.
Folding Outswing Door:
The 20’ wide by 9.5’ tall folding outswing door blurs the line between outside and inside. A hidden bi-parting retractable bug screen allows the large door to remain open throughout the day to bring in fresh air.
Catwalk:
A catwalk, or raised walkway, on the upper floor overlooks the great room and leads to the guest suites. A long bench with built-in linen storage is tucked into a niche with clerestory windows, providing a cozy spot for guests to relax. Guest laundry is tucked into the backside of the fireplace chimney.
Owner's Suite:
From the start, the owners wanted their bedroom perched on the second level to maximize views of the prairie beyond. Located in its own wing of the home, the owners’ suite offers privacy. Magenta closet doors guide the owners into the bedroom and adjacent bathroom.
Lifestyle:
The home incorporates numerous lifestyle features that are as much a part of the house as the main spaces. A sauna is located on the main level, allowing for easy access after a dip in the pool and a wine cellar is tucked neatly under the staircase for convenient and beautiful display.

This Dining room was designed for a young Hip family that loves to entertain.
This is an oversized dining room with great coffered ceilings. We were inspired for this room when we found the fabulous color in the drapery. We kept the furniture traditional, timeless and classic but allowed the lighting and art work to keep things fresh and youthful by lending a more modern element. The elegance of the brass and silver details are counter balanced with a casual grass rug that was custom sized to fit the table allowing the room to remain casually elegant. The white chairs are upholstered in an umbrella fabric to allow their small children to enter and mingle in this fabulous space.
The white bar cabinet allows for adult entertaining. And the Trefoil cache pot in the center of the dining table allows for an ever-changing opportunity to bring fresh seasonal fauna inside.

Protected by mature pine and willow trees sits Bow Bog Road - a formerly neglected house that was demolished to make way for a one-of-a-kind dwelling that now looks perfectly at home among the surrounding greenery—almost as though it has always been there.
The project presented the challenge of maintaining the existing foundation while creating a new residential haven that keeps the inhabitants close to nature while offering the facilities of a conventional city home.
The new modern post and beam home features an addition adding more livable square footage to the 1 story house. The tongue and groove ceilings with exposed timber beams bring warmth into the house which is further illuminated by the abundance of natural sunlight coming through the windows.
The homeowner can enjoy the stunning seasonal foliage within a home designed to become one with the existing landscape.
Made for relaxation and comfort, the custom-built home features a master suite; guest suite; and two additional bedrooms.
A sunroom invites the indoors inside and leads to the great room with stunning large windows that provide views of the ever-changing New England landscape.
The specially designed kitchen is a welcomed contrast with its darker wood color.
This amazing home is fully off-grid with a geothermal system; solar; septic system; and a 1,000 ft well.

As a long-time neighbor of CYAN Horticulture, the owner of this small south-facing garden gave us carte blanche on her project, as long as the severely damaged lawn was made to disappear altogether. A relax yet carefully studied meadow-like planting of bulbs and perennials, grasses and evergreen shrubs, now flank a narrow walkway. Maintenance is here kept to a minimum and seasons are wisely felt in this ever-changing arrangement.
