This Kitchen renovation was created for a busy family who wanted their home to better support the way they lived.
With two children, a dog, and demanding professional schedules, the Kitchen was the heart of their home. However, the existing space felt outdated, inefficient, and disconnected from their personal style. The heavy wood finishes and worn materials no longer reflected the look or functionality they wanted.
The goal was to create a Kitchen that felt fresh and elevated, while still looking like it had always belonged in the home.
The new design focused on improving functionality while carefully selecting materials that blended seamlessly with the existing finishes. White oak veneer Kitchen cabinetry brought warmth and timeless character, while a natural dolomite countertop became the centrepiece of the space.
Custom cabinetry was also added to the Mudroom, creating additional storage and helping the home function better for everyday life.
The Clients had a strong vision and a preference for natural materials rather than standard builder-grade finishes. Through thoughtful conversations and careful sourcing, we helped bring that vision to life while balancing design goals and budget considerations.
The finished Kitchen is warm, functional, and timeless. It is a space designed not only to look beautiful but to support busy mornings, family meals, and everyday moments.

Eichler X-100 Bedroom: A Private Retreat Defined by Light and Calm
The bedrooms of the Eichler X-100 offer a quieter, more intimate expression of the home’s architectural vision—spaces designed for rest, reflection, and connection to light and nature. Conceived by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons for Joseph Eichler, these rooms balance simplicity with thoughtful design in a way that feels both modern and timeless.
Minimalism with Purpose
The bedrooms are intentionally restrained—free of unnecessary detail—allowing the architecture itself to define the experience. Clean lines, open volumes, and uncluttered surfaces create a sense of calm that feels almost meditative.
Every element serves a purpose, reinforcing a lifestyle centered on clarity and ease.
Light, Softened and Controlled
Unlike the expansive public spaces, the bedrooms receive light in a more subtle way:
Skylights filter daylight from above, creating a soft, even glow
Carefully placed glazing maintains brightness while preserving privacy
Light shifts gently throughout the day, enhancing the room’s tranquil atmosphere
This approach transforms light into something quiet and restorative.
A Connection to Nature—On Your Terms
Even in these more private spaces, the X-100 maintains its connection to the outdoors. Views often extend toward interior gardens or landscaped areas, allowing nature to remain present without sacrificing seclusion.
The result is a unique balance:
open, yet protected.
Integrated Within the Plan
Positioned along the home’s central circulation, the bedrooms are seamlessly connected to the rest of the house while still feeling distinctly separate. The layout allows for easy movement, yet maintains a clear transition from public to private zones.
There are no long corridors or wasted space—just efficient, intentional design.
Comfort Through Design
The bedrooms reflect Eichler’s belief that architecture should enhance everyday life. Radiant-heated floors, natural materials, and thoughtful proportions create an environment that is both comfortable and visually refined.
It’s a space that supports rest without distraction.
A Quiet Expression of Modernism
While the X-100 is known for its bold experimentation, the bedrooms reveal a softer side—where modernism becomes personal. These rooms are not about making a statement; they are about creating a sense of peace within a larger architectural vision.
In the Eichler X-100, even the most private spaces are designed with intention—proving that great architecture isn’t just experienced in grand gestures, but in the quiet moments of everyday life. image Sabrina Huang

Eichler X-100 Kitchen: A Futuristic Vision of Function and Design
The kitchen of the Eichler X-100 is not just a place to cook—it is a designed system, a forward-thinking experiment in how everyday living could be streamlined, modernized, and elevated through architecture. Envisioned by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons for Joseph Eichler, the space reflects a bold reimagining of the American kitchen in the mid-20th century.
A Central Hub of the Home
Positioned within the home’s central utility core, the kitchen is strategically located to connect all major living zones. Rather than being tucked away, it becomes a functional anchor, allowing for seamless interaction between cooking, dining, and gathering spaces.
This layout reinforces Eichler’s philosophy:
the kitchen is not separate—it’s part of everyday life.
Innovation Built In
What sets the X-100 kitchen apart is its integration of experimental, built-in features that were far ahead of their time.
Highlights include:
A sliding dining table with integrated electric burners, blending cooking and dining into one continuous experience
Built-in appliances and systems, designed to reduce clutter and maximize efficiency
Thoughtful ergonomic planning that simplifies daily routines
These elements reflect a larger idea:
that the home should work for you—not the other way around.
Material as Modern Expression
The kitchen showcases extensive use of laminate surfaces (Formica)—a material that, in the 1950s, symbolized innovation, durability, and modern living. Clean, smooth, and easy to maintain, these surfaces reinforce the home’s futuristic identity.
Paired with steel structure and clean lines, the material palette creates a space that feels both industrial and approachable.
Open, Light-Filled Design
True to the X-100’s overall concept, the kitchen is fully integrated into the open-plan layout. Sightlines extend outward to living areas, glass walls, and even interior gardens, ensuring the space never feels enclosed.
Natural light filters in from multiple directions, enhanced by skylights and reflective surfaces, giving the kitchen a bright, uplifting atmosphere throughout the day.
A Prototype for Modern Living
In many ways, the X-100 kitchen anticipated how we live today:
Open-concept layouts
Multi-functional islands and dining spaces
Integrated appliances
Clean, minimal design
What feels standard now was radical in 1956.
Where Design Meets Daily Life
The kitchen of the Eichler X-100 is a perfect example of how architecture can elevate the everyday. It transforms routine into experience—where cooking, gathering, and living all happen within a single, beautifully orchestrated space.
It’s not just a kitchen.
It’s a glimpse into the future—designed decades ahead of its time.

Modern Minimalism Meets Everyday Life in Lancaster
Project Overview
Challenge:
With three children, two cats, and frequent visits from friends and extended family, the homeowners needed a kitchen that could keep up with their active household. As certified foster parents, [LINK TO THIS MONTH’S BLOG POST] they also required secure, lockable storage for knives, alcohol, and cleaning supplies. While functional, the existing kitchen felt dated and lacked efficiency. Their vision: clean countertops, hidden appliances, and durable finishes with timeless appeal.
Design:
Lenton Company created a tailored plan that honored the family’s budget and priorities. The U-shaped layout was preserved, but the stove was moved to the opposite wall to improve flow for two active cooks. Dark green shaker-style base cabinets were paired with white uppers and quartz countertops, delivering a high-contrast, classic look. Water resistant, wood-tone flooring was installed throughout the kitchen and main living areas for durability and cohesion. The drop ceiling remained due to ductwork but was refinished for a fresh appearance.
Build:
Construction began with a full demo and was carefully sectioned off to maintain a safe environment. The remodel included all-new appliances, lighting, cabinetry, and finishes. Thoughtful features like soft-close drawers, oversized pull-out trash and recycling, locking storage, a hidden microwave, and dedicated space for a toaster oven contributed to a clutter-free and functional kitchen. Under-cabinet lighting, overhead fixtures, and a half lazy Susan further enhanced efficiency and usability.
Reveal:
In the words of our homeowners, “Working with Lenton Company made the process feel seamless and turnkey. Having the designer, project manager, and build team all under one roof was a huge advantage. Our designer really listened to our needs and design preferences, offering thoughtful layout options and guiding us toward choices that fit our style and budget. The build team was efficient, professional, and kept everything on track—and tidy! After the renovation, we knew without a doubt we had made the right decision.”

This open-plan kitchen project in St Albans was about creating a light-filled, family-friendly space that seamlessly connects cooking, dining, and relaxing.
Our clients wanted a layout that brought everyone together while maintaining a clean, airy atmosphere with a soft, neutral colour palette.
We used our handleless cabinetry in a calming Sand matte finish — a warm, light beige tone that beautifully reflects the natural light in the room. This sleek, modern style enhances the open-plan feel while providing a timeless backdrop for everyday living.
Silestone Lagoon 20mm quartz worktops complement the cabinetry with soft veining and a durable surface, perfect for everyday family life.
The kitchen has fully integrated Siemens appliances, offering a streamlined and efficient cooking experience. A Quooker tap adds modern-day convenience, delivering instant boiling water on demand.
To ensure a cohesive feel throughout the open-plan layout, we extended the same cabinetry into the living area with bespoke media wall units in the same finish. This space is now a welcoming, multifunctional hub — bright, practical, and beautifully connected.

This Boulder family came to us with one clear priority: create a home that could grow with them. As their family expanded, so did their need for a more functional and welcoming gathering space; naturally, the kitchen became the heart of this Old North Boulder home remodel.
We leaned into a casual, contemporary aesthetic that feels approachable yet refined. The design centered around thoughtful, hardworking details that support everyday life. A bespoke coffee bar created a dedicated ritual space for busy mornings, while an internal lift stand for a KitchenAid mixer kept countertops clear without sacrificing convenience. A glass riser and custom cabinetry inserts brought both personality and precision to the layout.
Every storage solution was intentional. From specialized inserts to maximize organization to cabinetry designed for seamless flow, the kitchen now supports everything from weeknight dinners to full-family gatherings, blending beauty and efficiency in equal measure.

Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, this home's first-floor layout had several aspects that we wanted to address: the kitchen, the original dining room, and the laundry room. The goal was to create a more open, usable layout that still felt warm and connected to the traditional style found throughout the rest of the home.
We removed walls to open up the kitchen and carve out a defined dining area. The laundry room was expanded to be more functional. And through it all, we kept their desire for added storage and a modern-yet-timeless feel front and center.
