A revised roof assembly was developed to resolve previous drainage failures. Working with framers, the design team incorporated a sloping roof system with a waterproof membrane to direct water away from the structure. This approach not only protected the log walls but also created access to a rooftop deck from the upper level, adding functional outdoor space without expanding the building footprint. “It was also critical to transform the existing dark, segmented interior spaces by physically opening them up to the new sunroom,” says Klein. “NanaWall systems offered the ideal solution for what we were after.” historical homestead interior Improving Spatial Flow, From the Kitchen to the Sunroom The kitchen remained largely intact during the renovation, retaining many of the elements that had defined the cabin’s character for decades. That walnut slide stretches 45 feet long and 3 feet wide—spacious enough for three children to sit side-by-side or for an adult and child to slide together comfortably. We built it in one piece, filling an entire semi-trailer for transport. It lives in the hospital lobby, and no appointment is needed to experience it yourself. In Raleigh, North Carolina, we installed a 36-foot white oak slide in a custom home. The client loved it so much they ordered a second one—literally 15 minutes after we finished the installation. When Clyde returned to the office, there was already a check in the mailbox for slide number two. This 14,000-square-foot home now features 72 linear feet of curved white oak slide: one connecting the second floor to the main level, another linking the main floor to the finished basement. What a ride, indeed. Then there’s the curved stair-slide combination in Visalia, California—32 feet of knotty alder complemented by a hanging netted loft and climbing wall. Creative? Absolutely. Fun? This open-plan kitchen project in St Albans was about creating a light-filled, family-friendly space that seamlessly connects cooking, dining, and relaxing. Our clients wanted a layout that brought everyone together while maintaining a clean, airy atmosphere with a soft, neutral colour palette. We used our handleless cabinetry in a calming Sand matte finish — a warm, light beige tone that beautifully reflects the natural light in the room. This sleek, modern style enhances the open-plan feel while providing a timeless backdrop for everyday living. Silestone Lagoon 20mm quartz worktops complement the cabinetry with soft veining and a durable surface, perfect for everyday family life. The kitchen has fully integrated Siemens appliances, offering a streamlined and efficient cooking experience. A Quooker tap adds modern-day convenience, delivering instant boiling water on demand. To ensure a cohesive feel throughout the open-plan layout, we extended the same cabinetry into the living area with bespoke media wall units in the same finish. Sia Moore's design objective for Pivora, was to create a Mediterranean, luxurious and a boho-chic modern restaurant design. The restaurant is a two-storey space, composed of ground floor with the main hall and a mezzanine with dishwashing unit, electrical room and staff room. For the ground floor, the space was divided into two zones - the main dining room and the bar with three elliptical seafood showcase, refrigerators, wine racks and wall-mounted divided into two parts with the main hall on the ground floor and the banquet hall on the first floor. The restaurant space was originally built as one-storey area. However, during the design stage, building a mezzanine was proposed to client to provide a dining area with high ceiling and spacious feeling. Electrical and mechanical rooms, staff room and dishwashing unit was then located to the mezzanine floor, which was covered by glass film with an attempt to conceal the space from the gazes of guest dining area. Capturing the Mediterranean Spirit The restaurant is filled with rough unprocessed surfaces - complex brickwork, terrazzo flooring, exposed ceiling design. Many of the decoration details implies the seafood and organic life. Connotations that are vastly related to marine theme appear in the paintings or large elliptical seafood showcase and in the large kitchen window where the fresh food is cooked in front of the dining tables, and in the emerald green bar tiles, that is inspired by the colors of the fascinating underwater habitat. Reflecting the vibrant and energetic spirit of the Mediterranean culture, Pivora presents a warm seafood restaurant experience. From its custom design wooden furniture and bar decorations to the brickworks on the wall of main dining room and its boho-chic lighting solutions completed by indoor plants hanging over the ceiling are aiming to set the mood for a comfortable dining experience; an experience in which the joy rises with sharing.
