The bespoke built-in wardrobes we handcrafted were individually tailored with a variety of separate compartments and hanging rails to fit the homeowners’ exact specifications. The wardrobe interiors have been finished in Egger oak. This reproduction wood texture has a realistic surface that resembles the appearance and feel of natural woodgrain. The chosen graphite shade works well with any colours and materials. Compared to real oak veneer, Eggar oak is highly durable, resistant to scratches, less expensive and easy to maintain. Internally, we also installed integrated full-height LED lighting on the internal sides of each unit. Externally the doors and drawer fronts and trims have all been veneered in Mundy RRX.86.002. This veneer offers a combination of aesthetics appeal and environmental responsibility. It replicates the look and tactile nature of premium wood yet benefits from enhanced stability and sustainability features. The wood tones and texture bring a calming ambience and timeless elegance to the space. Each door and drawer front incorporates an integrated handle which gives the wardrobe units a sleek, uncluttered appearance. Integrated handles are easy to wipe clean and eliminate the risk of catching clothing or bumping into a protruding feature. A stunning feature of these fitted wardrobes is the integrated plinth and shelving lighting which emanates a soft glow as you enter the room. We installed PIR (passive infrared) sensors in the skirting boards to automatically and conveniently activate the lights whenever someone is present. This is also a useful energy addition, as the lights are only on when needed. Skirting board mounting is a discreet and effective way to place PIR sensors, offering a lower profile compared to wall-mounted sensor. The built-in dressing room also includes a bespoke cushioned storage seat, numerous wide, soft-close drawers and illuminated display shelves for storage baskets and boxes. The result is a luxuriously, streamlined and ordered setting for the Wimbledon homeowners to store their clothing and accessories, with everything fitting perfectly.

Details of a Limestone patio I was asked to clean at a property in the affluent neighbourhood of Alderly Edge, Cheshire, famous for being the home of choice for several Premier League footballers. In fact Alderly Edge, which lies not too far south of Manchester and is one of the most sought after places to live in the UK. My client was unhappy with the look of the patio had previously been sealed using a topical sealer, and this had left the tiles looking dull and lifeless. Limestone is a fantastic natural stone, popularly used for internal floors as well as patios, it comes in a variety of fantastic colours and shades. What my client really wanted for the patio was a wet look to bring out the character of the Limestone. So, my job was to strip the old sealer off and replace it will one that would achieve the desired finish. To strip the old sealer from the patio, I used a series of fine diamond encrusted burnishing pads which are applied in order from Coarse, Medium, Fine and then Super Fine. The coarse pad is effective at stripping off sealer without damaging the tile, and without the need to use a liquid product. The finer burnishing pads then rebuild the appearance of the Limestone to provide a nice deep shine. The new sealer of choice was Tile Doctor Colour Grow, which can be used on both internal and external natural stone surfaces. Colour Grow is an impregnating sealer which penetrates deep into the pores of the stone, providing both long-lasting resistance and durable protection against ingrained dirt and stains. As you can see from the photos, Colour Grow is also specially formulated to intensify the natural colours in the stone, and it really helped to bring the Limestone back to life again. The finished job left this patio with the wet, polished look my client had requested. She was very pleased with the result and amazed by just how quickly such a marked difference could be made. The Main Stay House exists as a straightforward proposal on an urban infill lot, paring down the components of a house to a minimal amount of planes and openings. The scheme is anchored by a modern entry sequence and a staircase volume, both clad in iron spot masonry externally and internally, creating thresholds between the respective realms of public, common and private, by minimal means. The masonry contrasts with an otherwise muted interior atmosphere of smooth, desaturated surfaces. The entry sequence is a twist upon the conventional domestic front door, front facade, and fence. The front masonry wall replaces the typical residential fence and frames an indirect access to the front door, functioning as a privacy barrier while revealing slices of the interior to the public street. The staircase bifurcates the layout to provide a clear division between the common and private zones of the house, while clearly reading as a mass from all outside view. Brick and glass become portals between common and private zones. The design consolidates the service core along the west façade, allowing the structure to fully open the living zone to the pool court and existing trees. This directly connects interior and exterior, as well as human and nature. Freedom to vary the program or functional use of the area is enabled and strongly encouraged.
