We removed several very large trees and shrubs that made access to the house impossible. Designed and installed the entry path and steps and plantings, and the small patio in the back. Also removed a failing fence and replaced with a new lateral-slat cedar fence with steel trellis for vines.

The building was built in 1925 as a gas station, then grew over time into a full service station. When we purchased it had been vacant for a decade, with no utilities and several failed roofs. We installed all new mechanicals, and designed and installed new facades on the far left portion and the center portion to reflect the previous uses of the building. Three of the barn lights are original to the 1930's remodel of the building and were discovered stored in the attic, the rest are reproductions that match exactly. Corroseal Rust-Inhibitive Primer - A water-based latex primer with built-in rust inhibitors, applied over converted surfaces to seal and prepare metal for topcoating. Sherwin-Williams DTM Acrylic Coating - Direct-to-Metal formulation delivering exceptional adhesion, flexibility, and corrosion resistance. Available in satin and semi-gloss, ideal for ornamental iron fence painting across Chicago properties. THE PROCESS Step 1 - Mechanical Surface Preparation: Wire wheel grinding with angle grinder attachments removed all loose rust scale, failing paint, and surface contamination. Heavily pitted sections received needle gun descaling to expose clean stable metal beneath. This step determines everything.
