We gave this large kitchen a completely new look! We brought the style up-to-date and added in some much needed counter space and storage. We loved the quirky charm of the original design, so we made to sure to keep it's unique style very much a part of the new design through the use of mixed materials. Artisanal hand-made floating shelves (made out of old barn wood) along with the exposed wooden beams create a soft but powerful statement -- warm and earthy but strikingly trendy. The rich woods from the floating shelves and height-adjustable pull-out pantry contrast beautifully with the glistening glass cabinets, which offer the perfect place to show off their stunning glassware. By installing new countertops, cabinets, and a peninsula, we were able to drastically improve the amount of workspace. The peninsula offers a place to dine, work, or even use as a buffet - just the kind of functionality and versatility our clients were looking for. The marble backsplash and stainless steel work table add a subtle touch of modernism, that blends extremely well with the more rustic elements. Also, the stainless steel table was the perfect solution for a make-shift island since this older kitchen did not have the typical width that is needed to add a built-in island (plus, it can easily be moved to fit the needs of the homeowners!). Other features include a brand new exhaust fan, which wasn't included in the original design, and entire leveling of the new hardwood floors, which were previously sinking down almost a foot from one side of the space to the other. A large master bathroom remodeled to fit our clients' needs. For this renovation, we replaced the large jacuzzi tub with a second vanity, exchanged the floor-to-ceiling shower doors with lower Starfire glass (which also prevents excess steam), a new shower bench and niche, as well as a new entryway to the walk-in closet. This new and improved master bath was then adorned with large dark grey floor tiles, dark grey painted walls and vanities, rich blonde maple doors, and artisanal pendant lights with sleek Edison bulbs. With ample storage in the kitchen island and upper cabinets, we were able to keep the design low-maintenance and easy to keep clean, as clutter would have taken away from the light and airy aesthetic. Kayla Carter of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Wilmington, NC, collaborated with Adam Aberte to design a traditional-style kitchen featuring Green Forest Cabinetry in the Brookside door style with a Glazed Ivory finish. The space is complemented by Silestone Lusso countertops and Wow Fez White tile. The client shared, “The hardest part of this remodeling project was making decisions. Kayla was key to the success of this project. She was patient, understanding, and always had a positive attitude. Her taste and help with color and design were invaluable. What I love most about my new kitchen is how beautiful and functional it is. Our client's kitchen was in need of a new and refreshing feel. We wanted to open up the kitchen and dining room, and offer a more inviting and cohesive set-up. We opted for a neutral color palette of dark grays, whites, and blues. A unique hexagon mosaic backsplash adds depth and interest, especially as it contrasts against the thunderstorm gray cabinets. Rustic wooden display shelves add extra surface space and warmth, while complementing the gold hardware and light fixtures. We were able to fit in a simple yet chic dining area, which is incorporated perfectly just outside of the cooking area. This new & improved set-up is perfect for entertaining and bringing the whole party together. Lastly, we designed a subtle, yet elegant mudroom. With cabinets & bench seating that match the dark gray cabinets of the kitchen, these two areas merge effortlessly and ensure one cohesive design throughout. The vanity countertops are MSI Q Smoked Pearl. The bathroom includes Italgraniti Lux Calacatta Mont Blanc field tiles, Islandstone Waveline Breeze Matte glass accent tiles and Islandstone Sliced Pebble Grey shower floor and under tub accent tiles. “The client was a joy to work with, full of energy and excitement for this project. He was looking for a spa-like feel in his Primary Bathroom. He had definitive ideas about what he did not want which helped steer me in the right direction,” said Angie. “We expanded the shower, added a freestanding tub in lieu of the existing garden tub, and brightened up the bath with white cabinetry, a light vanity top and a frameless, custom shower door. Removing the large tub deck and surround enabled the space to feel open and grand as well.” “The bathroom project exceeded all my expectations. Everyone performing the work was professional and the design of the new bathroom is fantastic. Well worth the effort and the costs were reasonable,” said the client.
