The master bedroom has an antique vibe, and this GuildMaster printer's chest certainly contributes to that aesthetic. With antiqued black graphics and trim, this solid mahogany dresser hearkens back to the chests used by typesetters at the turn of the 20th century. The small drawers were intended to hold flat paper files and tools of the trade. Chris makes great use of it in her bedroom and has adorned the chest with striking natural wood accessories. We freshened up the look of this home to reflect the style of the new homeowners. Taking our cues from the water, we used all shades of blues to play off of the tranquility of the spectacular lake views. Inspiration for an eclectic home design remodel in Grand Rapids

Gorgeous thick alpaca 'confetti' fabric by Rosemary Hallgarten adds an unexpected cheeriness to these upcycled office chairs. Originally sourced on the 'free' section, they were stained orangey brown and destined for the landfill. Their redeeming quality: modern square lines, solid oak, solidly built and in solid condition. Just needed a little TLC to get them out of their masculine ways and with a little elbow grease (and a luxury fabric budget), we transformed these gems into a pair of lovely feminine office guest chairs welcoming all who enter this lady's lounge (aka home office). The HON filing cabinet, originally in it's industrial state of grey would not fit into the new 'girle' scheme of the updated office. Instead, we opted to source some graphical vinyl wallpaper and give it a refresh to help it fit in. As well, sourced a vintage onyx piece of stone from an old coffee table and had it squared-off, fit just to size, adding both an organic and luxurious element to the space. The vintage glass and brass, gooseneck flower wall sconce, is the unique piece which has some dedicated wall space to allow it shine in it's own special way.

The Kate Spade ceiling light plays off the floral wallpaper (not shown here) and also adds a nod of 'girlie' to the peaceful adult girl room.

A mural of pink peonies, scaled to fit the longest wall in the room, is strategically positioned as a Zoom backdrop. Walls match the mural’s off-black background, as if the artist had painted directly on them. Highlighting the tall windows, black painted frames add graphic interest against the cream sills. Simple cream drapery emphasizes the ceiling height while absorbing sound and adding warmth. A huge custom rug unifies the seating and working areas and further contributes to the hushed atmosphere. The client’s heirloom dining table serves as a writing table. A pair of brass and glass consoles holds printer, stationery, and files as well as decorative items. A pair of cushy swivel chairs serves multiple functions – facing a loveseat and bench to create a cozy seating area, facing each other for intimate discussions, and facing the desk for more standard business meetings.

In order for this room to feel more like a retreat and less like an office, we used regular furniture pieces in non-standard ways. The client’s heirloom dining table serves as a writing table. A pair of brass and glass consoles holds printer, stationery, and files as well as decorative items. A cream lacquered linen sideboard provides additional storage. A pair of cushy swivel chairs serves multiple functions – facing a loveseat and bench to create a cozy seating area, facing each other for intimate discussions, and facing the desk for more standard business meetings.
