An Italian restaurant closed and and this lovely lady was gifted to friends. Solid and luminous thassos marble makes her a striking presence in the artfully landscaped drive. She has been known to don seasonal attire and dress up or down for special occasions. Serious fun even before you get to the door. Rustic pavers were added around the statue base on top of sand and dirt mix. Plantings of Hosta, Azalia, Mondo grass & moss added to frame her area and make her feel welcome. All provide almost instant gratification and integration to an established area of landscape.

Approachable and sophisticated, the carte blanche design of this home originated to mirror the personalities of the owners. Honored by the commission and sense of duty to create for an artist of another discipline, the resulting design and kindred friendship continue to bring immense gratification. Entering directly into a gracious dining and reception room, pleasant design surprises lie in wait around many corners, while proportion and centerlines anchor the spaces. A pea gravel drive and motor court compliment and complete the design esthetic of this residence.

This project took approximately 2 years to complete with 35 different phases of the landscape installation . This photo represents the end product with the garden at maturity in as little as 2 year's time. Our company installed 3.5k plants on this site with instant gratification in mind. Large 12' Canadian Hemlock, 14' Cryptomeria, 10' Magnolias, Hundreds of perennials, ground covers, edible and ornate shrubs, occupy this march like environment. It has a small creek flowing through the middle of the yard, which required a restricting plant palette. Ornamental grasses, hundreds of different varieties of Iris, boulders, and flowering ground cover were specifically chosen for this installation. The end result came out beautiful, and the native wildlife embraced it with open arms. On any given day you will see hundreds of butterflies, Hummingbirds, bumble bees, frogs, owls, etc. that call this their home. The client gave our company "Carte Blanche" and complete artistic license to do as we saw fit. You should see this installation in the late Spring when everything has come out for a new season, as it is loaded with color. Everyone that comes to see this garden is in awe.

A night-and-day difference! One of my favorite things about shutter jobs is our ability to provide Instant gratification for our clients! They can come home to a completely different house, usually in one day. Working closely with our clients throughout every step of their projects is what allows us to achieve their total satisfaction. -Robert MacNab

To help keep costs low on this design install we planted smaller plants that will fill in over time. This client choose the patient method of landscaping rather than instant gratification achieved through planting larger plant material.

Minimalist family room photo in Orange County with white walls, a ribbon fireplace, a wall-mounted tv and a stone fireplace

The Simple Pleasures project required macro shots of all the things I love. This emphasized the simplicity of each subject and how they effortlessly manifest gratification. Unique angles, clarity and details were among my main objectives. Ultimately, my goal was to convey this fundamental lesson of simple pleasures in a creative photographic message in hopes of illustrating the value of this explainable phenomenon. I chose items that most of us walk by most of the time without much thought. As a result, this project is a pictorial representation of some of the amazing inexpensive sources of joy in my world. Photography is one way for me to express the way I think, feel, and love. What I have captured with my camera last longer then the fleeting moments of bliss. These images help me think of the little things, long after they have vanished. ©Christina Hankinson

A four room master suite renovation in a 1930's Shaker Heights Tudor gem. The clients' fondness for soothing blue and cream tones permeate the space from warm Durango travertine in the bathroom to the calming aqua and gold wallpaper in the sitting room. All of the natural wood trim was painted Benjamin Moore's White Dove creating a much airier feel. Songbirds, another owner request, play a big role in the suite; featured on the hand painted bedroom walls, the custom vanity sink and furniture details, these feathered creatures add a sense of whimsy and natural beauty. The owners adore their traditional home's unique details and asked us to preserve the shaving sink, a 1930's era relic, now resting in a custom curved vanity under a television disguised in the mirror. It is gratifying to compare the before and after pictures. Renovating old homes is not easy, but the painstaking work of correcting sloping floors, outdated electrical systems, correcting plaster damage, etc. is overshadowed by the gratification of knowing this home has been lovingly restored and will grace the neighborhood for decades to come.
