The media room is one of the client’s favorite spaces. What was once a plain, living space is now a comfortable, vibrant environment for where the homeowners can relax. It features an orange-and-white trellis wallpaper, a flame stitch rug (chosen by the husband), and an abstract painting of a bicycle that nods to the homeowners’ love of cycling.

Kitchen in a 1920s Colonial Revival home was totally gutted and renovated. In addition to updated electrical, plumbing, and lighting, new windows were added bringing in lots of natural light. Antique oak beams and used brick veneer provide contrast and lend a rustic touch. Warm site-finished white oak floors ground the space and provide more contrast, as do the natural grass shades. Stainless steel appliances provide a sleek modern edge without overwhelming the space, while a crackle subway tile accented with beaded and black liners give a nod to the traditional. Countertops of Olympian White Vermont Danby marble in the main work area have a subtle gray veining.

My husband built this shower. He layered Hardie Backer (joints and screws caulked with waterproof caulking) and Hardie Siding that had been sealed on all four sides with cement waterproofing. We then painted it with Sherwin Williams Duration Home.

My husband and I wanted the dressing room to look as neat as possible, so the back wall became a built-in dresser/armoire. Painting it a medium gray, slightly darker than the walls, gave it a "furniture" look and feel. Kitchen with center island professional 48" Wolf range and custom zinc hood Ania Omski-Talwar Location: Danville, CA, USA The house was built in 1963 and is reinforced cinder block construction, unusual for California, which makes any renovation work trickier. The kitchen we replaced featured all maple cabinets and floors and pale pink countertops. With the remodel we didn’t change the layout, or any window/door openings. The cabinets may read as white, but they are actually cream with an antique glaze on a flat panel door. All countertops and backsplash are granite. The original copper hood was replaced by a custom one in zinc. Dark brick veneer fireplace is now covered in white limestone. The homeowners do a lot of entertaining, so even though the overall layout didn’t change, I knew just what needed to be done to improve function. Located at one end of the husband's masculine study and entertainment area, the office has a polished, professional look with a rustic vibe. I used the same wool upholstered, open-backed chair style for the desk as the chairs around the game table for consistency. The repurposed, French farm house wood floor was used extensively throughout the home to generate an authentic, lived-in feeling that tells a story.

This is the AFTER shot of the plain green wall that was decorated in my clients office. My client wanted to surprise her husband for Xmas with a newly designed home office in a fishing theme as he is an avid fisherman. This project was completed in one day when he was out of town. I had purchased all the accessories prior and stored them in my garage. When the husband was out of sight, my design partner and myself returned to the home and put everything together, hanging draperies, all wall artwork, accessorizing the hutch and desk. Some of the items were sourced from a prop shop in Chicago, Il. Those are real used rods, lures, a used fishing net and canoe paddles. This project is in St. John IN

An exercise in compromise between husband and wife clients, this two story addition is representative of a Soft Cozy Craftsman style. Incorporating clean welcoming accents with warmth and attention to hand-made woodwork, this home brings an updated style to an old favorite! The home features custom furniture in natural stains, hand-made by the client, as well as upholstery by Ethan Allen, and hand-made porcelain tile in the wet areas of the home.
