Inspired by light refracting off water, the Immersion Aquamarine tile pattern from Artaic’s SPLASH! Collection creates an ethereal, abstract motif. The dynamic turquoise color palette suits any space, especially a funky restaurant or hotel.

Jay Eiler, Assoc. IIDA, Allied ASID at Castle Design, was tasked with redoing this master bath in a beautiful Ladue home. Initially, the space was small for a master bath and was dated. “In the end, we decided to stay with the existing footprint, but we wanted to maximize the space and have a clean look,” Eiler says. The result was a sophisticated, modern space with outdoor elements. Eiler took the marble flooring up into the shower, giving the illusion of a larger space. He also incorporated a window at the top of the shower to bring in light from the skylight. The custom-made vanity was crafted from stained walnut. It is made up of two tiers floating on the wall, with additional storage deep enough to hold towels. Lighting was important to making the small space work, so a large but elegant electric mirror with an intricate Artistic Tile backsplash was the perfect solution. LED lighting strips under the vanity illuminate the floor without taking up additional space, and natural light is aplenty during the day. All fixtures came from Immerse, here in St. Louis. “The idea was to give this space an organic quality,” Eiler says. “The client wanted to bring outdoor elements, so we worked with the marble and warm tones of the vanity.” Dempsey Project by Castle Design

In redesigning this second-floor guest bathroom, designer Jay Eiler wanted to extend the timeless look and feel that is featured throughout this elegant turn-of-the-century home. The result is a calm, serene space with custom finishes and a sophisticated color palette. The bathroom was originally crowded and lacked natural flow, so the team took advantage of an unused storage area in the adjoining bedroom, and expanded the space to create a modern functional bathroom. A newly added transom window helped to make the room feel even more spacious and added warm natural light throughout. On the floors, honed Calcutta Gold marble neatly borders the oval river shell mosaic tile. A Moroccan-shaped marble tile mosaic in a pale emerald shines against the crisp white subway glass tile in the shower. This luxurious steam shower features sleek fixtures, including an oversized rain shower head. This is not just any project. This is not just any house. This is a house of healing. My beloved and infinitely inspiring brother, Yeshaia Blakeney owns and runs this treatment center, The Integrity House. When my brother approached me about decorating this 7000 square foot Mediteranean home in Brentwood, I was thrilled. When he told me we had 2 weeks to complete this mission I was, well, admittedly a little bit freaked out. With the indispensable help of Emily, my brothers’ wife and powerhouse, we scoured LA to find a harmonious blend of vintage & contemporary furnishings and art, that would bring this house to life. But, before this creative process, before the decor and the art, I brought the sage and we all sat down on the living room floor, my mother lead the ceremony and we blessed the house.
