The clients had just moved into an impressive Victorian house and the existing kitchen was in a very poor state. After seeing one of our adverts they made an appointment to visit the studio for an initial consultation, and after spending some time with Stephen they invited him to visit the house to begin the design process. He quickly came up with some concept ideas that initially included removing two internal walls which would really open up the existing space, yet considering the timescale the clients decided to concentrate on creating just a beautiful kitchen. With concept designs done and budgets considered they decided to instruct us for the complete project. We began with the building works that would allow a new kitchen to be fitted, this comprised of removal of the existing kitchen, installation of a new sub-floor and electric underfloor heating. The floors were finished with natural Limestone which just left installation of new power and lighting and a complete re-plaster. Including fitting the new bespoke kitchen, the project was completed over an eight week time period and on budget.

This nursery makeover was a surprise to the homeowners during a "big reveal". This project began as an online design plan by Sarah Macklem of http://www.theyellowcapecod.com. After an online consultation, Sarah got to work creating a nursery design for Brian and Heidi, inspired by their favorite place to visit…the mountains. The design plan included an inspiration board, true to scale floorplan illustration, product source list, custom paint color recommendations and step-by-step instructions on how to install the design. Instead of delivering the plan to Brian and Heidi to handle the installation, Sarah took this project a step further. To demonstrate how a design plan comes to life, she flew to Denver to install the room, by herself, in just two days. Since Sarah offered to install the new nursery, the clients requested to be completely surprised by the design. They had no idea what the room looked like until the reveal. This fiberglass tub was shipped by freight and came complete with chrome plumbing fixtures and instructions for installation. It replaced a large fiberglass corner tub with decking that took up space. This free standing tub allowed for visual space in the bathroom and my favorite change, wood wainscoating in a design I took from a childhood furniture cabinet that I loved. The carpenter installed the design "stick by stick" and it looks just perfect with the towel cabinet and vanities. I chose a simple $80. Chrome light fixture from a website over the crystal chandeliers I thought I would use. The simple fixture keeps the design balanced. The hammered nickel sinks are placed over brushed granite and the white granite looks fantastic with the honed brushed finish and a traditional routed edge. The same granite is used at the window ledge.
