Natural-stone façades, mullioned windows, and aggregate sidewalks/paths pay homage to site’s heritage as historic family farm replaced by socially-aware, urban-chic residence.
Columns framing front-door appear to be decorative, but actually provided cross-venting.
Basement includes 3-bedroom/2-bath legal suite with its own hot-water heating and mechanical system. Easily converted to a strata unit in the future if desired. Mortgage-helper for now, retirement planning for the future.
Natural-stone siding (3x-3-inch square) is labour intensive to install but meets clients’ desire for high-end, castle-inspired look.
Extra-wide baseboards and wainscot throughout balance high-profile crown-molding.
Entertainment style kitchen is ready to greet guests with expansive island featuring casual eating-bar on two sides, plenty of space to spread out a buffet of appies when guests come calling, and funky Olympic-inspired, five-ring chandeliers. After all, you know it, the best parties still end up in the kitchen. Two-tone grey-on-white colour palette on gloss cabinets is eye-catching combination of modern minimalism and timeless tradition...and easy-to-clean.
3x3-foot marble-look porcelain floor-tile throughout main-floor adds modern elegance
Master suite with cleverly-designed, generously-sized sleeping/bathing space, full-width east-facing balcony away from busy traffic, plus an efficiently-designed walk-in closet.
Ensuite includes a two-person shower with warm, soft-touch porcelain tile (dramatic in dark texture with vertical racing-stripe of glass-mosaic tile), both rain-head and handheld shower options, and body sprays. Plenty of room for a retreat for one or an efficient rush out the door for two.
W/D intelligently located on bedroom-level: convenient for every generation.
Soundproof windows.
Engineered, white-oak hardwood flooring throughout.
Built to PassiveHaus standards (certification pending), high-level environmental-savvy features include state-of-the-art Lifebreath HRV (removes bacteria from interior air), radiant in-floor heating, and on-demand, tankless hot-water.
EV-charger for two vehicles.

Our client’s intension was to make this bathroom suite a very specialized spa retreat. She envisioned exquisite, highly crafted components and loved the colors gold and purple. We were challenged to mix contemporary, traditional and rustic features.
Also on the wish-list were a sizeable wardrobe room and a meditative loft-like retreat. Hydronic heated flooring was installed throughout. The numerous features in this project required replacement of the home’s plumbing and electrical systems. The cedar ceiling and other places in the room replicate what is found in the rest of the home. The project encompassed 400 sq. feet.
Features found at one end of the suite are new stained glass windows – designed to match to existing, a Giallo Rio slab granite platform and a Carlton clawfoot tub. The platform is banded at the floor by a mosaic of 1″ x 1″ glass tile.
Near the tub platform area is a large walnut stained vanity with Contemporary slab door fronts and shaker drawers. This is the larger of two separate vanities. Each are enhanced with hand blown artisan pendant lighting.
A custom fireplace is centrally placed as a dominant design feature. The hammered copper that surrounds the fireplace and vent pipe were crafted by a talented local tradesman. It is topped with a Café Imperial marble.
A lavishly appointed shower is the centerpiece of the bathroom suite. The many slabs of granite used on this project were chosen for the beautiful veins of quartz, purple and gold that our client adores.
Two distinct spaces flank a small vanity; the wardrobe and the loft-like Magic Room. Both precisely fulfill their intended practical and meditative purposes. A floor to ceiling wardrobe and oversized built-in dresser keep clothing, shoes and accessories organized. The dresser is topped with the same marble used atop the fireplace and inset into the wardrobe flooring.
The Magic Room is a space for resting, reading or just gazing out on the serene setting. The reading lights are Oil Rubbed Bronze. A drawer within the step up to the loft keeps reading and writing materials neatly tucked away.
Within the highly customized space, marble, granite, copper and art glass come together in a harmonious design that is organized for maximum rejuvenation that pleases our client to not end!

Custom sheer and blackout drapery installation in a custom-built waterfront home overlooking Lake Norman in Catawba, North Carolina. Designed to address the challenges of expansive lakefront windows, this layered window treatment combines elegant sheer drapes with custom blackout drapery on a double-rod traversing system.
The homeowners wanted to enjoy natural light and their Lake Norman views while gaining better control over harsh sunlight, daytime glare and privacy. The sheer drapery provides a softer layer of filtered natural light during the day, reducing the intensity of direct sunlight while maintaining an open, airy appearance. The blackout drapery provides a second layer of light control and privacy when needed, making the combination especially useful for rooms with significant sun exposure.
In addition to improving comfort, the layered drapery helps limit direct sunlight reaching hardwood floors, furniture and interior finishes. Reducing prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can help protect these surfaces from fading and discoloration. The double-rod traversing arrangement allows the sheer and blackout panels to operate independently, giving the homeowner flexibility throughout the day.
This project illustrates how custom window treatments can address the practical challenges of lakefront living without compromising interior design. Custom drapery offers an attractive solution for oversized windows, large glass openings and custom-built homes where glare reduction, privacy, natural light and outdoor views are important considerations.
Installed by Bloomin’ Blinds of North Charlotte, a locally owned father-and-son window treatment company. Rick and Cole provide in-home consultations, custom drapery, professional window measurements and installation, along with custom blinds, shades, shutters and motorized window treatment options.
Proudly serving Lake Norman and surrounding North Carolina communities, including Catawba, Sherrills Ford, Denver, Mooresville, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and North Charlotte.

This project illustrates the transformative power of thoughtful design and innovative technology in creating spaces that nurture the body and soul. The "Serenity Flow" master bath in Powell, Ohio, stands as a testament to our commitment to delivering bespoke living experiences, where every detail contributes to the well-being and comfort of the homeowners.

Acoustic panels, surface-mounted outlets, and a variety of audio equipment. The techniques used in this project require that there be as few holes as possible in the drywall and the smallest workable size.
